Sheila Julia Lewis Yeomans Parry
May 14, 1941 - September 1, 2018
With a very heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved mom, sister, grandma and friend, Sheila Julia Lewis Yeomans Parry.
Sheila was born on May 14, 1941 in Cardiff, Wales to Elsie and Stephen Lewis and passed away on September 1st, 2018 in her home.
Sheila and her older sister Valerie lost their father Stephen when he was killed at the end of WWII while crossing the North Atlantic. His ship was sunk by a German U Boat in 1945. Elsie remarried on July 17, 1947 to William Yeomans and went on to have 3 more children – June, John, and Billy. They emigrated to Canada in 1952 and their family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in April of 1960.
Sheila, who always wanted to be an American, was sponsored by the Church and chose to move to Utah in 1964 to find herself a returned missionary to marry. She met the handsome Vern Craig Parry on a blind date in 1966 and they married 7 months later, on December 16th. Their marriage was officiated by Thomas S. Monson, who was their mission president in Canada. They went on to have five glorious, spectacular, beautiful children – Troy (Christine), Kevin (Rachelle), Chad, Brett and Chrissy (Dennis). She had seven dazzling grandchildren – Dawson, Sydney, Kennedy, Coleman, Mia, Charlie and Porter. She was preceded in death by her father, step father, mother, nephew (Ricky) and husband.Sheila and Craig celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and eight months later, she lost her love to a three-year battle with liver disease.
Sheila truly loved all people. Anybody who knew her felt how deeply she loved them. She always saw the best in people and could always see both sides of the story. She had a love for singing and dancing and just always wanted to have a good time. We never had to question how much she loved us – we always knew. She will be deeply and greatly missed by many. There will be a viewing on Friday, September 7th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Farm Hill Ward Chapel, 1250 East 4800 South, Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 am at the Farm Hill Ward Chapel, with a viewing at 10:00 am prior to the funeral services at the same building. Interment after at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery at 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy.
In Loving Memory
My husband and I would like to convey our condolences to the family of Sheila. It's been a long time since we saw her last, but when we knew her and every time we had the opportunity to be in her presence she was always a sweet and loving person who always made me feel that she cared so much about us. We became acquainted with the Yeomans family at church, their parents and mine were part of a group called the old marrieds, and we were a part of the young marrieds who would get together for a social evening. We got to know Sheila through our association at church and subsequent visits from her home in Utah to come and visit her mother and siblings back home in Hamilton. She is most happy now with her parents, husband, and loved ones once again. Till we meet again, may God bless those she left behind. 🙏😘
