Sheila Rae (Peake) Leasure
October 13, 1953 - January 22, 2025
Sheila Rae (Peake) Leasure returned home to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. She was born October 13th, 1953 in Salt Lake City Utah to Derrick M. Peake Jr., and Clara (Nave) Peake.
She graduated from West High School, where she had various accomplishments. She received an award from West High Leaders Club. She was also a member of Black Student Union Club, and the drama club. Sheila continued her education at Westminster College receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics.
After graduating from Westminster University she started her career at The Hartford Insurance Company in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was then transferred to the Reno, Nevada office in 1979, where she met the love of her life Charlton Leasure. They were married on May 24, 1986 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sheila and Charlton moved to Sacramento, CA in 1985. She ultimately worked for several other insurance carriers and private investigating firms, which culminated in her opening her own firm, Leasure Investigative Services. A very proud moment indeed.
Sheila loved her family, cooking, shopping, traveling and pushing those buttons at the nearest casino.
Sheila was VERY passionate about her (Oakland, Los Angeles and Las Vegas Raiders).
Sheila was undoubtedly a star. A star has several symbolic meanings. Many of which can be attributed to Sheila. Her mind, smile and personality were as sharp as the point of a star. Her confidence, style and poise, was that of a Hollywood star. The sun that warms our faces on a bright sunny day is in fact a star and like Sheila, her mere presence would warm your heart, and her bright light would overtake a room the moment she stepped into it.
Shelia is survived by her husband, Charlton Leasure, sisters Shauna Gholson, Stephanie (Richard) Bourdeaux, sister-in-law, Linda Peake, father-in law, Ernest Chambers and many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and cousins and other relatives, as well as lifelong childhood friends. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents Derrick and Clara Peake, sister Sharon Neal, brothers Dennis Peake and Stephen Peake and mother in law, Merle Chambers.
Our family gives much thanks and appreciation to acknowledge all acts of kindness, calls, cards, condolences, prayers, floral arrangements and any other expressions of love in our time of sorrow. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center and Mercy Hospice in Sacramento, California.
A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday February 19, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Sheila will be laid to rest on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at Mt. Cavalry Catholic Cemetery.

My dear bother in law, my love goes out to you as you navigate this time in your life. There will be ups and downs, but remember it’s all part of the process of the love that you and Sheila shared through the years. Embrace the ups and downs. I am here for you❤️

From the moment Sheila became a part of the Leasure/Chambers family, she was instantly accepted and loved by the entire family. Her jovial and sparkling personality won us all over. We will all miss her deeply. She leaves a vacuum that cannot be filled. My special memory and one that comes to mind is of the Super Bowl games. Even if our favorite team (the Raiders) weren’t playing; Sheila would always be the hostess with the mostess and lay out lots of food and decorations for the enjoyment of all. I will dearly miss you this Super Bowl.

I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm sending prayers and angels to help carry you through Sheila's passing. Stephanie and I have been best friends since the 9th grade. I love her entire family. Sheila was always so loving, happy and funny. A little story. Sheila, Stephanie and I were getting ready to go out. Stephanie and I was dancing and Sheila pointed to Stephanie and said "salt" then looked at me and said "pepper". We all fell out laughing so hard. She always teased us so much and had the most beautiful and contagious grin. I also remember waiting for hours for her to get ready to go out. Stephanie and I would get so mad. It was all forgotten once we finally got to our destination because she was so much fun. I will miss you Sheila and you will always be in my heart and memories.

They don't come any better than Sheila. The time I spent with her through grammar and high school were such fun times. What a fabulous personality and wit she had. May her memory be a source of comfort to you all. I loved her dearly. Betty
