Shirley Jean Anderson Almstedt
August 13, 1935 - February 17, 2024
On February 17, 2024, peace came to our sweet mom, grandmother, great grandmother, after a long hard-fought battle with breast cancer. Born August 13, 1935, in Salt Lake City to Eleanor Grange Field and Harold Gustave Anderson. She attended West High School where at a high school dance she met the love of her life Ted Almstedt. On
December 27, 1952, they married and began their life together raising six children, later being sealed with their children in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked at Deseret Medical and Philips Candy Company for short periods of time, but her true love was raising her children and being a devoted wife.
Mom loved the sun and the beach- ANY BEACH. She loved being outdoors, and traveling was a passion. She collected thimbles of each city she visited, displaying them proudly. Mom loved learning to line dance and loved the friends she made through those years. Memories of backyard family barbeques, swimming pool parties, German chocolate cake and the best frozen raspberry jam will carry us through.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Mom’s hospice nurse Leti and health care aid Dina. They took great tender care of her. Mom loved them dearly.
After 71 years together with their hearts connected Mom and Dad left this world, last breath to last breath, 30 hours and 30 minutes apart. They are now together for eternity.
Survived by children: Linda Larsen (Kelly), Wendy Deppe (Lynne), David Almstedt (Laurel), Laura Williams (Jeff), Douglas Almstedt (Chandra). Grandchildren: Phillip, Andrea, Alexandria, Carissa, Aimee, Bryson, Alisha, Weston, Skye, Emily, Andrew, Jack, Daniela. Great Grandchildren: Tori, Zane, Ava, Leona, August, Walker.

Shirley you are one in a million, it was a pleasure working with you at then Deseret Medical. You brought insights of life many of us had not ventured or thought about. Your wisdom and wit are still with me. Your whole face lights you and eyes twinkle when you laugh, one of many things I remember about you. A chance meeting a while ago, it was the same, your face and laugh. It was great to see Ted with you at that time I am very sorry for your familes loss but grateful Ted didn't wait long. You are both always best together
