Sonja 'Sue' Sylvester Delongpre
April 4, 1954 - October 13, 2022
Sonja (Sue) Sylvester Delongpre, age 68, passed away October 13, 2022 in Bountiful, Utah surrounded by family and friends.
Sue was born April 4, 1954 in Richfield, Utah to James L. Sylvester and Charmayme Davis Sylvester. She was the youngest of three kids and later moved to Salt Lake City. She attended Granite High School and Westminster College.
Sue lived an amazing life and experienced so much before her health began to fail …
She owned and built two businesses beginning in 1983. Cooking was certainly a passion, with Sue taking many cooking classes and collecting 3,000+ cookbooks.
Her and her family are avid Ute fans where Sue’s cooking skills were much appreciated while tailgating.
She loved sailing her boat at Bear Lake where she was once Commodore of the Bear Lake Yacht Club, cherishing the relationships she had formed over the years at “The Lake.”
She also loved skiing, her pets, pheasant hunting, and trips to the San Juan Islands with family and the local Orcas.
Sue is survived by her husband Alan Delongpre, children Jarremy Morgan (Tammy), and Jarred Morgan (Amber). Grandchildren Olivia, Chelsea (Jordan), Ashley (Scott), Justin and great-grandchildren Vivian, Brooks, Baker, Wade, and much extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Charmayme Sylvester, and her brothers Corydon (Butch) Sylvester, and Roger (Magoo) Sylvester.
The family would like to thank those all who cared for and visited Sue over the years. Special thanks to her neighborhood friends and long-time caregiver and friend Jennifer Beddes. There are no words to express how grateful Sue and her family are for your love and compassion!
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 28th, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City
In Loving Memory
How heartbreaking to hear of Sue's passing. More than once I have stated the first friend I ever had in my life was Sonja Sue Sylvester. Both our families moved into the Lake Street area in Milcreek 2 doors from each other at about the same time before we entered kindergarten. Butch and my older brother Jim were good friends, as was Roger and my other brother Norm. Sue and I were the same age so we hung out a lot together until the 4th grade when my family moved to Bountiful. She was such a doll. All my best thoughts and prayers to her family.
