Stanley Cross, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at his home in Salt Lake City Utah of causes incident to age.
Born May 10, 1918 in Victoria BC Canada the second of six children of Edward and Jessie Williams Cross. Moved to Salt Lake City, Utah while very young and graduated from West High School. Served an LDS Mission to California from April 1940 – March 1942. Married June Loveridge in the Salt Lake Temple November 24, 1942. They had four children; Steven Edward, Marilyn, Sharon and Kathleen. June passed away April 2, 1994. Married Joyce Edwards Henderson in the Salt Lake Temple on September 14, 1994 adding Robyn, Marilyn, Mark, Karen and Christine to his family. With Joyce, Stan was able to achieve his lifelong dream of traveling the US and abroad. They were able to visit many places he had longed to see. He worked at the US Postal Service for many years retiring in 1983. Dad held many positions in the LDS Church including work in the Salt Lake Temple for 18 years.
Survived by wife Joyce; daughters Marilyn Cross, Sharon (Scott) Bailey, Kathleen (Wayne) Parrish; step-children Robyn (Scott) Martin, Marilyn (Brett) Call, Mark (Kelly) Henderson, Karen (Scot) Canfield, and Christine (Kevin) Moray; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters Winifred Trythall and June (Bob) Ericson.
Preceded in death by his first wife June; son Steven; and siblings Kenneth, Bill and Ada Hatch.
Services will be held Monday, October 17th at 12:00 pm at the Forestview LDS Ward, 1111 E. Charlton (2818 S.), Salt Lake City, with a viewing beginning at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S., Salt Lake City.
The family wishes to thank Curo Hospice, especially Ann, Jan and Pat for their care and comfort.
