“May Her Memory Be Eternal”
Stavroula (Voula) Harris Maroudas, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on August 5, 2025. Born on April 23, 1935, to Kostantinos Panayiotis and Vasiliki Niakarou Haralampopoulos. Voula immigrated to America with her brother Pete in 1951 from Tziva, Tegeas-Tripoli, Greece, to live with her grandparents Panayiotis and Olga Haralampopoulos.
Married George G. Maroudas on September 16, 1956, in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Salt Lake City, UT. They were married for almost 65 years. Voula owned and operated City Cleaners in Salt Lake City in the late 1950s and Prompt Cleaners in Murray in the 1980s together with her husband. She also worked as a seamstress at various clothing stores over the years (SL Costume Co, The Paris, ZCMI and others). She was very “social” and made friends quickly with coworkers and people she’d meet on the bus going to work.
She was an amazing cook, making Greek foods and pastries, that she always generously shared with family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Voula was a devout member of the Holy Trinity/Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Pete, Sotiros, and George.
Survived by her sisters Olga Argyropoulou (Greece) and Kathy Tsilis; children Rita (John) Litsas, Jim (Diane) Maroudas, Dean (Eleni) Maroudas; grandchildren Chrysoula (Zachary) Christopulos, Dimitri Litsas, Amy (Thomas) Peters, George (Jessica) Maroudas, Josh (Lynsey) Tedesco, George Constantine Maroudas, Stavroula Maroudas; and great-grandchildren Georgios and Yianni Christopulos, Evangelia and Caliope Peters, and Sofia Maroudas. Also survived by her sister-in-law Pat Karpakis and many special nieces and nephews here and in Greece.
A special thank you to Symbii Hospice and Rodney and his team at Capitol Hill Care Center for taking care of our mom.
