Taylor Brey's Tribute to Steph Turpin
Steph passed away peacefully from this life at home laying next to the love of her life, wife and partner of 15 years, Korbi Brey. Steph's cancer may have taken her body, but it did not take her soul. She knew that she would live on through all of those whom she touched.
Steph was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Ut. She loved water, the ocean waves, jumping into high mountain lakes, she was one with the river. Her passion in life was fly fishing and being able to teach her friends the sport. She loved watching the fish and the fascination with their lifestyle. She lived for the outdoors. Especially camping in their trailer and sharing a bonfire with the "Muffins", a group of best friends providing constant love and support through her quest. You would also find Steph at the cabin where she would spend favorite times with family members enjoying many adventures like hiking to the beautiful lakes.
Steph's example of pride, work ethic, loyalty, financial responsibility, wisdom and grace will no doubt live on. She recently retired from working 30 years at UPS. As a favorite delivery driver to many on her routes, they would anxiously await to see her smiling face approaching in her truck. She was admired by all for her dedication to her job and her customers.
It broke Steph's heart to leave her little "Peanut", Taylor. The two of them shared a special bond that will live on here through Taylor's life. "Nana" took Taylor on many adventures from their secret gardens, to national forest parks, to their own private fishing holes. Steph was Tay's soccer teams biggest fan. She loved her relationship with the soccer family. Taylor will live a much richer life because of the life lessons Steph taught her and the loving example she lived.
So many family members, friends and neighbors will miss Steph's generosity and support. She loved mowing neighbors lawns and helping anyone whenever they needed it. She enjoyed cultivating her garden with the family. There she grew beautiful vegetables she would share with everyone.
Steph was loved by all and in addition to Korbi and Taylor, her father, Michael W. Turpin (Gail); her mother, Judith Ann Rowely (Howard); her father-in- law, Arthur L. Milne and (the late Gwynne); sister Wendi Sylvester (Mike), Michelle Turpin, and step-brother Andrew Mecham (Heather); sister-in-law, Staci Larsen (David); and Andra Betteridge, daughter-in-law, Lindsay Brey, many nieces and nephews, and her best friends and comrades the "Muffins".
A celebration of life will be held in Steph's honor on Monday, August 6, 2018, at The Garden Place at Heritage Park, 2601 East Sunnyside Ave Salt Lake City, Utah from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, where all who knew Steph or Steph's family and friends are invited to come and share fond memories and good times. Please upload favorite pictures and a memory of Steph to the site, legacy.com, to be placed in a memory book for Taylor. In her last days she kept reminding us how precious life is and to keep enjoying every minute of it!
It was Steph's wish in lieu of flowers that an account be set up in Taylor Brey's name. The monies in this account will be used to donate to causes of Taylor's choosing. Taylor's first donation will be to BestFriends, Animal Society. Your donations can be made at Wells Fargo Bank, to the Taylor Brey/Steph Turpin Memorial account. A Venmo account has also been set up under the user name @Tay-Brey. What an honor it will be for Taylor to share the love.
"Listen to the sound of the river and you will find a trout."
