Stephanie Maureen Gonzales

February 10, 1951 - December 2, 2022

Stephanie’s earthly journey started February 10, 1951 when she was born to Paul and Gloria Case in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she lived for her lifetime.

She grew up in a large family with 9 siblings (4 sisters & 5 brothers). In 1970 she married Gilbert Gonzales (later divorced) and started a family. She worked for the State Of Utah for 25+ years before retiring.

In earlier days she helped coach both daughters softball teams, enjoyed her camping trips to Trial Lake & trips to Boise visiting family. She loved listening to music and dancing while snapping her fingers. Favorites were Sam Cooke, The Temptations, Fleetwood Mac & many more.

She loved watching sports with her grandkids. If the Utes, Jazz, Dolphins or Angels weren't playing that day, she didn't know what to do with herself. She enjoyed sitting outside in her lawn chair, with a smoke & drinking a beer.

On December 2, 2022 Stephanie made her transition from this earth.  We will definitely miss her stubbornness, sass, feistiness and matter of fact attitude.

Stephanie is survived by her two daughters Maureen (Anthony) and Bernadette. Grandchildren: Joey, Christopher, Mariah & Shambré. Great grandchildren: JJ, Aryanna, Danté, Ky-Mani, Nino. Valentino & newest addition Sarai.  Siblings: Paul(Janie), Roxanne(Scott), Philip, Kevin, Shannon, Darren & Jamie.  Many nieces & nephews. Also her dog Buck, who stayed by her side with every step she took.
Preceded in death by her parents Paul & Gloria, sisters Traci, Christine, nephew Matthew & Jazz (her Australian Shepherd who was always by her side).

The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Salt Lake Regional Hospital, especially “Ricky”, who provided care, guidance and genuine support during this difficult time.

~There is only one of us. One consciousness manifesting into different forms. Stephanie’s time in her earthly body no longer, her soul transitions to a space so free, void of pain, full of love & light, a space with no boundaries. Why cry for a soul set free, when this is the way it’s meant to be~

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday December 12, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East.  Guests are encouraged to use the parking and entrance on the north side of the building.

Family requests that visitors come in attire comfortable for them (casual or dress) Feel free to wear any color preferred as we celebrate her spirit and  life.

In Loving Memory

I didn't know until way after, and could not hook up with you, I loved her so much we always had a good time even tho they were short and I knew her late, I'm so glad I got to hang out with her. I remember our aunt Bonnie took me for a ride to one of my cousins to drop off some chairs to her d for a party at her house. She told me this is one cousin you need to get to know .I was like alright, I unload the chairs and stacked them against the wall so he our aunt Bonnie said ok! Il see you two later, have fun and left me standing there in Stephanie driveway ,like what the heck aunt Bonnie? I don't know her that well, just too hang out like that.... Well we sat in her garage drank beer 🚬 and had a good time, she was so cool, I thought man! Aun't Bonnie was right! This woman is awesome! She had the West side spirit, backed her kids, boy, you didn't mess with them she would be so over it!!! To me she was amazing! Right before she passed, I meet another cousin and got to know him good and told him there was another cousin he had to meet .Cuz he wanted to know some history in our family and he was meeting new cousins for first time like me I told him come on , you got to meet another cousin that is so cool. She is just down the way. So we stopped in, unannounced of course ..I told her she had to meet a cousin and we went in and had a great time talking about everyone in our family it was awesome, but as we are we're leaving she says now you know your suppose to call before you come over, don't screw up again......I said yes ma'am!
