Steve (Sietse) Aardema
July 14, 1947-August 23, 2015
Steve did not want an obituary, so we will keep this short and hope that he would forgive our need to stop all the clocks, if only for a moment.
Steve was born in Leeuwarden, Holland, to Klaas and Grietje. He came to the United States in June 1954 with his parents and 4 siblings, Alice, Simon, Ann, and Stephanie. He joined the Marines with his best friend, Don, in February 1966.
He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Lynne; 6 children, Travis (Jamie), Mitzi, Christopher (Ashley), Sean (Mimi), Mike (Christine), and Heather (Chris); and 13 grandchildren.
Nothing was left unsaid, and for that we are thankful. Yet still, there was not nearly enough time to share the abundance of love in our hearts. Steve always underestimated the impact he had not only on his family and friends, but on everyone he met. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, August 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.
