Steven Ray Gayler
December 27, 1959 - October 17, 2021
Our world has forever been changed when our beloved Son, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and friend passed away unexpectedly in his home at the young age of 61 on October 17, 2021. He was born on December 27, 1959 to Dick A. and Cozette Rogers Gayler in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dad grew up in Granger, Utah where he first met his best friend, our mother, Pyper Frampton. He graduated with High Honors from the School of Hard Knocks. Our parents were together from teenagers and were later married September 22, 1984. They resided for many years on Nunley Cir in Holladay, creating all sorts of shenanigans and memories with many neighbors, family and friends. It was a wild ride until they decided to part ways and were later divorced. Despite this, they remained very close and were best friends all the way until the end.
Dad was extremely proud of and loved and adored his family, especially all his grandkids whom they affectionately called BaPa. He enjoyed doing fun things with them like showing up one day to take the kids for a quick ride around the neighborhood in his ginormous cement truck or taking his grandson for a bumpy ride in the dirt hills in his Bronco. He loved spending time with his granddaughter Jaidin, playing around the house and making funny videos. Dad especially loved and had a special place in his heart for his other mother, Judy aka “Bubbles”. Dad's heart was broken when he recently lost his father only 2 months ago.
Dad worked hard all his life, working in the trucking and construction industry where he had met many lifelong friends. He worked for Metro West Ready Mix driving cement trucks for over 20 years, but was recently hired on this year at Staker/Parsons. He loved his job and was proud of being the best cement truck driver.
Our Dad had the most kind hearted and generous soul. He would share anything he had. Every time we would visit him, he wanted to give us something from him, even if it was something that seemed insignificant. He had a goofy sense of humor and an endless supply of corny jokes and sayings that kept us all laughing. Dad was always able to have a good time with his many friends and close buddies. Everybody loved Steve and he loved you right back!
Dad was a huge fan of NASCAR and football, especially his Green Bay Packers and UofU. He loved old muscle cars and the drag races at Rocky Mountain Raceways. He loved the good 'ol rock n' roll music, his Whiskey or Rum and Cokes, and of course his Marlboro cigs. Over the years he's enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting, fishing, being in the mountains, playing darts, and messing around with his guitars. Dad loved his favorite furry feline companion Bobby the “Bobzilla” and “Bobcat”.
Steve is survived by his children, Christi (Paul) Howard, Tony Gayler (girlfriend Mindy), grandchildren Alexcis (fiance, Michael Paul), Tyler, Ashley, Addison and Jaidin, former wife and good friend, Pyper Frampton, sisters Stacie Gayler, Brandee Burnam, step sisters Carrie (Rachael) Gayler, and Gail (Mike) McPhie, his wonderful mother from another, Judy “Bubbles” Steele, his loving step-mother Danna Gayler and many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Keith Lagerstrom, brother-in-laws Corey Frampton and Troy Frampton, his step-sister Crystal Smith, and one of his very best friends Scott Densley.
A viewing for Steve will be on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor. A viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Steve will be laid to rest following the service at Elysian Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City.
Dad, we all love you immensely and will miss you more than words can say. Thank you for all the good times and the precious gift of your many hilarious Facebook pics and videos. You crack us up!
