Steven W. Harkleroad

October 12, 1969 - February 10, 2016

Steven Wayne Harkleroad passed away on February 10th, 2016 surrounded by his family and friends. Steven was born in Pekin, Illinois on October 12th, 1969, son of James and the late Sharon Harkleroad. He attended Pekin High School, class of 1988. He was a wonderful brother to Robert Harkleroad and a devoted son to his parents. He was an extraordinary son-in-law to Helen Alberti who he considered his second mother.

Steven moved to Salt Lake City in 1990 where he worked for Robert Taylor and Sons for 15 years as a service technician. He owned Car Wash Services and was most recently employed at Alta Paints and Coatings. He married his high school sweetheart and soulmate. Sheila Alberti. They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on September 17th, 2015. Steven was the most caring, kind and thoughtful husband to his wife and "the best dad ever" according to his son Chase whom he loved more than life itself. He was an extremely gifted mechanic, avid snowmobiler, BMX biker, motorcycle rider, and outdoor enthusiast. His motto was, "no throttle, no thanks."

He passed on so many of his wonderful gifts and talents to his son, for which Chase is so grateful. We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the medical staff in the Emergency Department and the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Utah Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.

In Loving Memory

Sheila, Chase and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Steve was such a great friend. He was always kind, caring and thoughtful. He always thought of others before himself. We know how much he loved his family. We always had fun going fishing and hunting. I'll never forget how he got me into go-karts, rc boats and rc trucks. I will never forget those good times I had with Steve, and when I met him snowmobiling on Guardsman's Pass at that time we started our friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. We are here if you need anything. Clay and Sonja
