Susan 'Suzie' Laura White
November 22, 1959 - December 12, 2022
Suzie arrived in the mortal world on November 22nd 1959, a Thanksgiving gift to her parents, Arba C, and Nancy Williams Christensen. She grew up with her siblings and cousins in the greater Salt Lake area, settling in later years in Holladay, Utah.
Suzie graduated from the alternative program at East High school in 1978, where she developed an interest in underserved populations and a passion for undoing racism. Suzie became a mom shortly after graduation and spent the next several years caring for her family and working in jobs that allowed her the opportunity to remain with her children, Hillary, Cody, and Sammie, who she loved more than anything.
She attended medical assisting school and retained her interest in medicine, though she only used that education to care for her elder family members. She later earned her Child Development Associates Degree and served over 15 years as an assistant teacher for the Utah Headstart program.
Suzie was a second mom and provided a safe place for many young people and adults alike, was a devoted friend to many and was proud of her friendships, which she worked hard to maintain. During family vacations to California, Suzie developed a love for the ocean, which became her happy place.
Suzie also developed an interest in Native American customs and traditions, and could always be identified by her moccasins. She was a devoted daughter, and granddaughter, caring for her father, and grandmother during their last days. She also lovingly cared for her mother as long as she was able, until her disease debilitated her.
Sue is survived by her mother, Nancy Christensen, her sister, Julie (Michael) Mortensen, her brother, Frank (Carolyn) Christensen and her children, Hillary Allen (Chris Carlin), Cody Pedersen, and Samantha White, along with many loving nieces and nephews. However, the true joys of her life were her 3 amazing grandkids, Hennessy Allen, Bailey Allen, and Kai White.
We would like to thank Suzie’s Horizon Hospice team, who provided loving, compassionate end-of-life care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Suzie’s name to any of these organizations that were important to her.

I remember the first day I met Suzie back in 2008. Her and one of our best friends, Bonnie welcomed me to the Head Start family, and took me under their wings, teaching me so many ways of caring for children. I remember the many trainings sitting next to her gossiping and laughing. We would often sneak away to grab a quick smoke break making sure to get back in time as to not be noticed, She was always so kind and easy to talk to just thinking of her brings tears to my eyes, she will be missed.

I met Suzie while working for Head Start. She always knew how to put a smile on my face and was there for me more times than I can count on many regards. I called her "mom" and she called me "daughter." She was like a mom to me and even though life got in the way and we grew apart, we still checked on each other once in a while. My world was rocked when I heard the news this morning. She was such a beautiful light in this world. My condolences go out to her family and friends. She will be missed dearly.
