Sylvia Chidester- cherished daughter, wife, mother, mimi (grandmother), sister, and aunt- passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63. She was born June 4, 1961, to Gabor Szemerey & Wally (Mross) Szemerey in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sylvia’s life was marked by her deep love of her family, Catholic faith, and the traditions of her German and Hungarian heritage.  She found great joy in tending to her flower beds, baking delightful treats, feeding anyone and everyone that came through her door, making sure she got in her daily steps, and fun evenings of dinner, drinks and Uno.  Her most cherished moments were spent with her grandchildren, and she loved sharing their achievements with all she knew.  Sylvia will be remembered by the unwavering love she showed her family, the gentle kindness she extended to everyone, and her infectious laugh.

Sylvia was the beloved wife of Mark Chidester and a devoted mother to her children: sons Mark (Jessica) Chidester and Chris Chidester, and daughter Alexandra (Ty) Glenn, grandchildren: Georgia and Gracie Glenn, Easton, Camden, and Peyton Chidester, and Kashius Chidester.  She is also survived by her siblings: Ildiko Szemerey Haycock and Steve (Vickie) Szemerey, nieces, Angela (Spencer) Simpson, Carly Szemerey, nephews: Cameran (Mary) Dansie, Taylor Szemerey, great nephews: Parker and Connor Simpson, mother- in- law: Billie (Jim) Anderson. A very special thank you to Jen Glade, R, with Renew Hospice, who so gently cared for Sylvia and guided each of us in her care.
