Sylvia Schultz
September 27, 1939 - May 12, 2018
Our dear sweet sister, aunt, and friend, Sylvia Schultz, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 after a long battle with several health issues. Sylvia was born on September 27, 1939 in Manti, Utah to Henry Lee and Christie Nielson Schultz. She spent her early years living in Pioche, NV after which her family moved to Salt Lake City, where she started school and eventually graduated from East High. She also attended the University of Utah.
Sylvia worked at Mountain Bell as a telephone operator and later at the Travelers Insurance Company. Travelers gave her the opportunity to work in many states and manage several offices in different regions of the country. She loved working at Travelers, especially meeting and making all of her lasting and meaningful relationships across the country and after 30 years, she retired as Regional Vice President. Sylvia had a contagious laugh which she shared with everyone she met. She was a stranger to no one and enjoyed making many wonderful friends at the Ladies Literary Club. Her love of books and reading led her to make even more close and endearing friends in her monthly book club. She loved shopping especially for shoes and always thought if you found a great pair, you should buy one in every color.
She is survived by her sisters Marianna (Earl) Bolinder, Nancy Vaughn, and Christie Schultz, and a special sister the family adopted with love, Judy Lund and brother-in-law Max Valerio; nieces and nephews: Scott Bolinder, Michael (Kristin) Bolinder, Eric Bolinder, Becki (Steve) Christian, Amie (Mario) Salazar, Benjamin Valerio, and Joseph (Amy) Valerio, and eleven great nieces and nephews. Sylvia also leaves behind many, many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Valerio, niece Annalee Bickmore and brother-in-law David Vaughn.
A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building. A private family burial will take place on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Manti City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Wentworth Assisted Living and Brighton Home Health Hospice for their kind and loving care to Sylvia.
In lieu of flowers Sylvia would love it if you would take a day to go shopping and treat yourself to a new pair of shoes or a sparkly piece of jewelry. "Here's to us, who better!"
In Loving Memory
Sylvia is one of the finest women I had the fortune to know. Her calm and loving demeanor touched everyone who knew her, even briefly. She will be missed by my entire family. Much love to her dear sisters and all who loved her.

Sylvia had the absolute best wit! I considered her a dear friend that I could easily talk to about anything. She had amazing insight into people, politics, movies, books, you name it. Sylvia had great, loving stories to tell about her family and friends. Her love of family was abundantly obvious. I loved her as a friend and will miss her dearly. Whenever I see a pretty shade of orange I think of Sylvia.

Sylvia was one in a million and she be in our hearts forever. Our family has been lucky enough to know her all our lives. The kind of friendship Sylvia and my mother (Lyn) had was an incredible gift. I also loved Sylvia with all my heart just like everyone who ever met her. Sylvia has inspired and encouraged me in countless ways. She was so humble and quiet about her accomplishments, but she was someone to admire. She never ever bragged, but she had to have been a real standout to achieve all that she did in her career. I will miss her astute commentary of life and politics, her genuine kindness, her humor, her class, her stories, and her book recommendations. We vowed to work "The Boys in the Boat" into every conversation we had, and did so easily. The other vital topic we covered weekly was how much Sylvia loved and appreciated Christie. I have never seen anyone care for another person as selflessly as Christie cared for Sylvia. Sylvia was more grateful than her words and tears could ever say. You are to be commended Christie and Judy. You did a beautiful job of honoring and caring for such an amazing person! Much love and appreciation.

Sylvia will forever be one of my favorite people. I will miss her brilliant wit and infectious smile. She taught me to not take myself (or anything for that matter) too seriously. She will be in my heart always. Cheers, Sylvia!

Dear Friend, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister Sylvia. I remember her well and the influence she and your family had for good in my young life. I have such fond memories of our childhood (you,me,Sandra, and Eileen) and have often wished for an opportunity to get reacquainted. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Most Sincerely, Marion

After God removes wickedness and suffering, the earth will be transformed into a paradise. Then people will be able to live forever in perfect health and happiness. God's Word foretells: ?[God] will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.?Revelation 21:4. In that new world, even dead ones will be brought back to life to share in those blessings: ?There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.? (Acts 24:15) That is why Jesus Christ could tell a repentant evildoer who expressed faith in him: ?You will be with me in Paradise.?Luke 23:43. I hope these thoughts provide some comfort during this difficult time.
