Sylvia Shiflar Flynn
"Keep Smiling"

Loving wife, sister, aunt and dear friend, Sylvia Flynn passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013. Sylvia was born on March 2, 1925, the seventh of nine children to John and Anna Sever Shiflar in Denver, Colorado. Following graduation from high school in Rock Springs, Wyoming she moved to Utah to work at Hill Field and Camp Kearns. When the war ended she worked for several years at the Federal Reserve Bank in Salt Lake City. Then came her dream job; which found her on "Film Row" in Salt Lake City working with RCA and Twentieth Century Fox for almost 25 years.

Sylvia married Jesse Bruno in 1947; later divorced. She married Dean Flynn on March 5, 1975. Bowling was a part of her life during her entire working career. But her greatest passion was the yearly trips she took with her three sisters to Wendover, where they would dress alike and were often mistaken for ‘entertainers' when they made their appearance in the casinos. They were not only sisters; they were the best of friends!

Sylvia devoted her life to family and friends. She was a lady with great vitality and generosity. As little children and ‘little children who had grown up' Sylvia's nieces and nephews were recipients of gifts whenever she came to visit. She will be dearly missed and always loved by each life she touched.

She is survived by her husband; sister Virginia (Don) Orester of Rock Springs; brother Frank (Helen) Shiflar of Salt Lake City; stepdaughters Kathleen, Patricia Ann and Denene; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers John, Rudy, Andrew and Alfred; and sisters Christine Jelosek and Annie Marietti.

Sylvia would want to acknowledge Denene for her loving care and support during the past year of declining health.

Friends are invited to greet the family and view on Friday, February 22nd at 5:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, where a vigil will begin shortly thereafter. A celebration of life will follow until 8:00 PM.

In Loving Memory

Dearest Auntie & God Mother, How I have missed you since my move to California. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family and my prayers with you. I have so many fond memories. I will miss your goofy photos you have sent me throughout the years in your Christmas Cards. I can still see the house in Rose Park and the white home on the hill. We have a new angel, one that will watch over us. I love you! Jil
