Tamara Nielsen
October 5, 1943 - September 30, 2013
Our mother, grandmother, sister and friend returned to her loving Heavenly Father on September 30, 2013 where she is joyfully reunited with her parents Vada and Gordon Hopkins.
She was born October 5, 1943 in Ogden, Utah. She dedicated her life to helping others as the head nurse of emergency at the University of Utah for over 40 years, spending the last 5 years teaching nursing to others. Tam enjoyed camping, boating, creating jewelry, crafting and cooking; she did it all. She taught her daughters independence, honesty and compassion.
She is survived by her daughters Lindy Parks, Jenni Parks, Kristen Nielsen and their fathers, to whom she was married, Dale Parks and Buzz Nielsen; grandchildren, whom she treasured above all, Nicholas Parks, Keegan Hall, Lucas Hall, Chloe Redican; sister Deb (Monty) King; and brothers Randy (Jan) Hopkins and Greg (Kelli) Hopkins.
Friends are invited to call upon the family at a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 4th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 AM also at Starks Funeral Parlor, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
In Loving Memory
We are so very sorry for your loss. Grandma Tammy was such a sweet, generous lady and she will be greatly missed.

I met Tammy in April, 1970, when she was expecting Jenni. We built so many memories - too many to count. I cherish all of them, particularly the "condo years". My deepest condolences to her family, especially the "girls". Here's to "the sisterhood"! See you later, Tammy. Much love, Jeannie Bordenave

I had the pleasure of working with Tammy at University Hospital for over ll years. While I was technically "her boss," I considered her a friend and a talented, caring nurse. She had a wonderful presence and a model head nurse. My prayers are with her and her family.
