Teresa Lynn Williams

September 7, 1962 - April 12, 2008

Our loving mother passed away on the morning of April 12, 2008 after a long struggle with breast cancer. She was born September 7, 1962 in Colorado but lived the majority of her life in England. She touched many people through the piano. Her life was all music all of the time.

Teresa loved her career as a preschool teacher. She was known as “Mary Poppins” at her school for her ability to encourage music, reading and discipline amongst the children.

She leaves behind her two daughters Shelbie (18) and Isabella (5) whom she adored. The three shared a special closeness the surpassed most mother-daughter relations. There was always laughter and happiness even (and especially) when things were difficult. She is also survived by her grandson Dominic; twin brother David Altom-Stone; and sister Valerie Sperrer.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 18th at 12:00 noon at Jordan Oaks Stake Center, 8117 S. Leslie Dr. (3905 West), West Jordan, where friends may call upon the family beginning at 10:00am. A private family burial will follow the service.

Teresa occassionally taught my daughter at Challenger Preschool. But of the few times that I interacted with her, she left me with a very positive and upbeat feeling afterwards. I had no idea that she was struggling with breast cancer. Her courage is an inspiration to me. I will remember her during my Race for the Cure this May. To her children: I know that it must be hard for you as I also lost a parent at a very young age. But I want you to remember this, although it seems like you may not be able to continue, but God only gives us what we can endure. Lean on Him and the memory of Teresa. You will both be in my prayers.

Teresa was amazing in everything that she did. She taught and cared for people and she gave many the opportunity to show and express their talents through theater and music. I am very grateful to have known her and worked with her and I know that she loves you, Shelbie and Bella, and I'm sure she'll continue to watch over you.

Dear Shelbie and Isabella I was so heart-broken to hear about the death of your mother Teresa. I am so sorry. I used to work at Challenger and I remember what a firecracker your Mom was - Very bubbly and enthusiastic, lots of fun. She could get those kids to sing out their hearts. I remember one time your Mom dressed up like Columbus with puffy pants and all. What a brave and fun lady! The thing I remember most about Teresa is how much she loved you guys. She couldn't say enough about the 2 of you. She was so proud of her beautiful, talented girls, and was not afraid to tell everyone how special you guys are. May God bless you and your family during this time and always. With sincerely condolences Jill, Travis, Nathanael, Anna, and Sarah Bonsteel

Shelbie and Bella, What can I say? Your mom was the greatest. I will forever remember here and al the wonderful opportunities she gave me in exploring more of the Drama and singing world. I will always remember ebing Uncle Max in Sound of Music and her trying to make me old. I will always remember her telling me how to dress the set for Beauty and the Beast and how it had to be the BIGGEST set EVER! I will miss your mom so much. She's with our Brother Jesus Christ and with our loving Heavenly Father once again and I'm sure she's making them laugh and telling them where to stand and how to act in her next big production. You guys are in my prayers. Love ya!

Teresa knew how to get the best out of her students, young and not so young, alike. She could be tough, but she wanted us all to reach our potential and she usually got us to do that. I have thought of her often with gratitude. I loved being in The Sound Of Music with her. Thanks, Teresa, and go easy on the angels in the choir!

I knew your Mom very well several years ago, in fact she stayed in my home many times when she would come to Montana. Shelbie you were just a young girl, but I will never forget how talented you were. Your mother had such a beautiful voice and I loved to hear her sing. Teresa blessed so many people in helping them bring out their talents in music, many who never realized they could sing and would not have performed in front of others had they not been encouraged and worked with. It has been years since I saw your mother, but last year I was at Temple Square and was able to hear her singing at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. I was happy to see her again. I pray that God will bless and comfort you both and may the sweet memories you have of your Mom always be with you. Love, Linda Andra

Miss Teresa was my daughter's first real teacher. I encountered her at all the kid's birthday parties and thought she was a great person. She has taught Lili so much and Lili will carry what she has learned from Miss Teresa the rest of her life. Every child she taught will always have a part of Miss Teresa in them for the rest of their lives. Thank you!

Terry was one of my closest friends at school when she and David came to St Helen's Primary School nr Bristol. I. Was born on 6th Sept and was one day older. We remained friends all through secondary school and I last saw her days before she left to go back to the US. I have never stopped thinking about her and wondering how she was so it is with great sadness that I have, only now , learned of her death. She was a wonderful person who loved music, her religion and life. I will always continue to remember the happy years when I knew her and when we were growing up.
