“Our Big Brother”
Our brother, uncle and friend, Terry Dickerson passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born August 19, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Bernard (Dick) and Mary Dickerson. Terry resided in Rose Park from 1950 to present and graduated from West High. He was the oldest of 9 siblings and will always be “Our Big Brother”.
After the sudden death of his father in 1968 Terry was a great support for his brothers. He introduced several of his brothers to motorcycle racing which they all participated in together for many years and was always present for sporting practices and games.
Over the years he was deeply involved in the Rose Park and westside youth activities as a coach. He loved sports. Whether it was baseball, basketball, race cars, motorcycles, or golf; he was passionate about the sport and developed many lasting friendships in all of them.
Terry loved to travel and would drive for days to play a course he hadn’t played before. He made a goal of playing golf in every state in the US and achieved that goal. As a golfer he achieved many honors and awards including seven “hole in ones”.
Reading was a passion and his interest varied including spy novels, history, aviation, and modern technology. He was especially fond of visiting military sites. One of his favorite trips was visiting Europe and getting to see the historical sites that he had read about all his life.
Terry had many friends and always had a good story to share. Whether it was about his travels, golf or the people in his life; it was always an interesting story.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie Dickerson Johnson, and brother Robert Dickerson and a great niece, Mikel Sorenson. He is survived by Sue Dickerson Larsen (Ken), Tom Dickerson (Kelli), Ray Dickerson (Sue), Cathy Dickerson Tuttle, Scott Dickerson (Le Ann), Lisa Dickerson Poore’ and many nephews and nieces. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I am so sorry to hear of Terry's passing. As an assistant professional at Wingpointe Golf Course I played with Terry many times on our club"s 8-man team. He was a great player and just fun to play with. As a fellow Rose Park resident I knew that Terry lived quite near to me. I regret not saying hello once in awhile but I was always wondering how he was doing. Condolences go out to Terry's family and friends at this most difficult time.
