It is with heavy hearts we announce the death by suicide of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Thane Westmoreland.
Thane took his own life in a moment of deep despair on Saturday, November 28th, 2015 in Brigham City, Utah at his home. Thane was born June 14th, 1962 in Roseburg, OR, the youngest son of Robert H. Westmoreland and Ardyth Jensen Westmoreland.
Thane was a loving, kind and loyal friend. He was a conscientious and hard worker. As a long haul truck driver, he was out on the road for days at a time for over 25 years. Rarely a day went by when he did not call or text those he loved at least once. From the time he was a toddler he wanted to drive, work on and be around trucks. Throughout his life he made award-winning models and drew detailed pictures of semi-trucks. Thane also loved camping, listening to Country Western and Rock & Roll music.
Thane is survived by his mom Ardyth; his sisters Vicky Westmoreland, Penny Westmoreland (Fred Whicker), Louise (Shorty) Rodriquez; his brothers Mike (Michelle) Westmoreland, David (Roberta) Westmoreland; his dear friends Carl and Tresea Layton; many other friends and numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog Reggie, whom he loved dearly.
A celebration of Thane's life will be held at his sister's Vicky's home in SLC, Utah on Saturday, December 19th, from 1-5 pm. The address is 4335 Mulholland Street. Please come join us for the memorial open house for our beloved Thane.
