Thelma Viola Bailey

April 5, 1920 - August 27, 2009

Thelma V. Bailey

Our sweet mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 27th, 2009.  She was born the eldest of 8 children on April 5th, 1920 on a homestead in Montana to Alta and Jess Hoke.  Thelma married Larry D. Bailey on December 1st, 1939.  She was a woman before her time when it came to recycling.  Thelma washed and saved everything and often fashioned her recycling into crafts and scrapbooks.  She also made beautiful quilts that will be treasured even more now.  Thelma was a talented, thrifty woman and we will all miss her.

She leaves behind her children Don (Kathy), Gary (Barbara), Bill (Janet), Jim, Mike (Darlene), Pat, John; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchild; sisters Dolly and Mickey; and son-in-law George (Janet) McCone.

Preceded in death by her husband; daughter Laurie Ann; and 5 siblings.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday, September 8th at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 670 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City.

Special thanks to Dr. Carole Baraldi and to the many others who have cared for our mother over the years.

In Loving Memory

I will always keep the fond memories of Thelma as my Cub Scout leader when the family lived on Sims. I also treasure my freindship with Bill and the times we sat and talked with his mom. The Bailey Family has special meaning to the Huncovsky Family and always will. Love Dave and Camey

I have great memories of my grandmother and even though we were not related by blood, She always treated me as though we were. What I will miss most is her smile and the way she laughed. She was with out a doubt one of the warmest person I ever met. I love and miss her. Douglas Bailey Hanover,In
