Thomas Delbert 'Del' Clegg
June 16, 1956 - April 16, 2021
Thomas Delbert Clegg died April 16, 2021 at IMC in Murray, Utah.
Born June 16, 1956 in Provo Utah. He was the fourth child born to Thomas Adelbert Clegg & Norma Merle Molyneux Clegg.
Tom grew up in Provo.
He was very interested in nature, insect collecting, bird watching, and painting, and was quite talented and knowledgeable at all he did.
He was very popular in high school and all of the girls were very jealous of his long, beautiful, red hair.
An animal lover, he had several cats and dogs in his life, all who he loved and missed once they had passed.
Tom was an avid gardener, spending many hours (and dollars) on plants and trees, always finding new and unusual, and beautiful ones to beautify his gardens.
He loved to read, cook, sew, crochet, and many other hobbies.
Tom drove a bus for UTA for thirty-two years and retired from there in 2017.
In 1999 he met his partner Marlin Haws and moved to Salt Lake City for a new chapter of his life.
Again, he spent many hours and dollars on new gardens that many of the neighbors were in awe of.
Tom is survived by Marlin, his partner of twenty-one years; his sisters Rae Ann and Joyce, and his brother John; many nephews and nieces, many of whom were very close to him; and Louie Thomas, his best friend for sixty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Carmileta and Elizabeth, and a couple of nieces and nephews.
Marlin and the family would like to thank the care and medical givers at IMC for the wonderful care that they gave Tom and the family during the many visits to the hospital and especially the last week of Tom’s life.
Private services will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Salt Lake City, where his ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Please share your memories and photos and view an extended obituary at www.starksfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to All Saints Church (1710 S Foothill Dr, SLC, UT 84108); or to a charity or non-profit of your choice.
In Loving Memory
Sorry about your loss. I did not know him as an adult, but saw him many times as friend of his sister Carmilita when we were in Jr. high and high school. He was just a youngster at the time.

Tom first hired me several years ago to shovel snow and then in the spring and summers to tend to their yard. Each time I would go and work on their yard Tom and I would sit and have conversations about music, movies, family, the community but the subject we most talked about was about the birds that would fly into his yard and his garden of flowers, bushes and trees. I grew very fond of Tom and we became close friends and he always had a smile even though he had health issues he always made me smile and he was always so friendly and caring. The last time I spoke with Tom he asked me if I could help him plant some little trees he had ordered a few years ago that were still sitting in pots on his patio. I asked his partner Marlin if it was okay for me to plant those trees for Tom like I promised him I would and today I did just that and picked out 3 spots in their yard and planted Tom's trees today. Tom will be missed by many and I am happy to say that I am happy to have gotten to know Tom and I will especially miss our talks every time I continue to work on his gardens I will think of him.
