Thomas J. Daniger Jr.
December 12, 1925 – December 3, 2014

Our beloved husband and father Thomas J. Daniger Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3rd 2014. His wife Valeria Smith Daniger was by his side at home during his final journey.

Tom and Val were high school sweethearts and married on January 18th, 1944, while he was in the merchant marines and they had a wonderful life together for 70 years. Their traveling with friends on motor home trips and cruises (over 55) were some of the many great times they shared.

Tom gave many years of his life as chairman of the board for Shriners Hospital and helped develop the new hospital for Shriners in Salt Lake. Through hard work with his wife, Tom started up and ran a successful furniture business "Daniger Distributing Co. (Home Furnishings Mall).

He will be missed by his wife; daughters Kristine D. James and Karla D. Sippel; son-in-law James E. Sippel; son Bruce T. Daniger; 5 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren; all of whom appreciate the wonderful love and giving he graciously gave to his entire family and the community. Preceded in death by his 6th grandchild Toma.

An open house in honor of Tom will be held on Sunday, December 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, where complimentary valet parking will be provided on the south side of the building.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Tom Daniger to Shriners Hospital, Fairfax and Virginia Street, S.L.C., UT 84103. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.starksfuneral.com

My brother Paul told me about Tom's passing and I wanted to extend my condolences to you Val, Kristine, Karla and Bruce. I still have fond memories of those holiday get togethers many years ago. Tom was always a great guy and a great freind to mom and dad. I also remembered that great fishing trip up by Mac's Lodge when Bruce and I were young. I will be thinking about good memories come Sunday afternoon.

Lots of good memories of Tom, both growing up, and, later as our neighbor in Salt Lake City. My heartfelt condolences to those I knew, Val, Kristy, Karla, and Bruce, and to the grandchildren and Great Grandchildren I never had a chance to meet. My thoughts are with you all.
