Timothy M. Burke
1948 – 2013
Timothy Michael Burke, 64, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on May 13, 2013.
Tim was born July 20, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas Dexter and Virginia Edith (Ory) Burke and was raised in Illinois. Tim married the love of his life, Mary Jacquelyn, on April 7, 1975 and they lived in Salt Lake City, Utah until his death.
Tim served as a decorated member of the 9th Infantry Division of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. As a distinguished member of the DAV and VFW, he worked tirelessly contributing to solve veterans' issues. His successful lobbying work paid off in many ways including the first Veterans' Nursing Home for Utah.
We will greatly miss him. Tim's love for all the people in his life was second only to the dedication he had to family and friends. We benefited from his generous talents as a brilliant chef and master of great meals and parties. He loved motorcycle riding and spent the day before his death riding with his son. Tim was a proud member of ABATE of Utah and enjoyed working for motorcyclist rights.
Tim is survived by his wife Mary; children Danny, Tim Jr., Nisha, Kirchy, and Kelly; and grandchildren Patrick, Kendall and Isabella. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Virginia; sister Carol; brother Rory; and many dear friends.
Join us for a celebration of his life on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 6-8PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. On Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11AM Tim will be laid to rest at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale. Kick-stands up at 10:15AM for a motorcycle procession to Camp Williams from Starks Funeral Parlor.

They say when a man dies a library of knowledge goes with him. Tim will be missed by everyone who knew him. The DAV and VFW have lost a great champion of Veterans Rights. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
