Tracy 'Burt' Burton

December 5, 1958 - April 10, 2023

Burt was very proud to be the son of Commander George W. Burton U.S. Navy and Lois Ione Nordquist. Born in Monterey California, moved many times before growing up in Minneapolis.  Actually, he never grew up.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Brother Geoffrey W. Burton and his wife Jean.

He is survived by “the love of his life” Frances Susan Molitoris, Nephew Matthew Burton his wife Stacy, current collies DJ, & Kassie, and 2,478 friends.

Burt was fun. He loved the great outdoors. His passions were skiing, being a Seven Summits member at Snowbird, Fly fishing, hiking with his beloved collies, rock & roll, enjoying the New Orleans Jazz Fest, Red Butte Gardens, hosting a BBQ and enjoying a cocktail or four.

The most important week of each year was when his college buddies came to ski.  They left no turn unstoned!

At various times in his life, he was a gymnast, skilled bartender, fly fishing guide, tremendous cook and one hell of a real estate agent!

Burt was proud of his family history including the Bertagnole Sheep and Livestock Company that originally owned many acres in Emigration Canyon. Given his love and enjoyment of open space, Burt was thrilled to facilitate the transfer of 165 acres of this property in a Conservation Easement to Utah Open Lands, so it could remain open space in perpetuity. He was a staunch supporter of Utah Open Lands and in addition to being a land donor, he was a member of the Advisory Committee and never missed the yearly Portraits of Preservation Soiree.

He was very involved in Dutch John to ensure not only the future of that town, but more importantly, the ecological sustainability of his beloved Green River.  If you ever had the pleasure of fishing, hiking and dining in Dutch John, you will never forget it.

In Burt’s own words before passing, “Tell all my friends Thank you, I love you and will see you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.”
