Tracy Lynn Shumway
July 26, 1964 - May 10, 2019
We lost our father, friend, uncle, brother and mentor Tracy Lynn Shumway in Sandy, Utah on May 10, 2019.
He is survived by his wife Jana; his children Asher and Jade and their mother Summer Dawn Shumway; step-children, Ashley (Brandon), Cory (Jenna), and Blake (Sarah); six grandchildren; as well as mother-in-law Vicki Francom Pierson.
Preceded in death by father, Mark Perry Shumway; mother, Wilma Waddoups Shumway; and father-in-law, Dallis Joseph Pierson.
Tracy was a quirky individual who loved helping others, usually in the form of building or fixing things. This led him to spend time doing charitable work in various places such as New Zealand and Vanuatu. He enjoyed the outdoors and always sought new adventure. As he got older, his passion for building things spread into the field of drones and R.C. helicopters and planes. He loved flying and his attention to detail quickly made him a consultant for the community whenever they needed technical help.
He started two businesses in the commercial refrigeration and specialty coffee industry: Matrix Mechanical and Mission Espresso. His unique personality, hard work ethic, and mechanical abilities greatly contributed to his success as well as meaningful relationships with his customers.
Tracy was an intelligent and unique person, and his sense of humor will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. All who loved him are welcome and dress is casual. Please use the complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.
In Loving Memory
Dear Shumway family. I grew up with the Shumway family in Holladay. I always considered (and still do) Kent as my best friend. I spent probably as much time in the Shumway house as I did my own. I remember Tracy as a funny little kid with a good sense of humor. Sounds like he did some good things in his life and Iâm sure will be missed. Please know your family is in our prayers as we mourn with you. Ernie Blodgett

To Tracy, the best uncle a girl could ever ask for. Thank you for all the fun memories you have given me. Boating, camping, go carts, jokes, nick names, music, hiding Christmas presents, whipping us around on tubes at the lake, catching crawdads at night at Flaming George, staying up all night mastering photography tricks, pulling us on sleds in the snow behind the riding lawn mower at grandma and grandpas, jumping off the balcony, camp fires, lots of laughs and most importantly, love. I love you and I miss youâ¤

It is with sadness, that I only found out, that Tracy has left this earth to be with his Creator; I have fond memories of him, while I was pastoring churches in OPOTIKI NEW ZEALAND. No doubt, one day he will share with me his events after returning to the USA; he enriched the lives of many in New Zealand! Pastor Dirk Krommenhoek
