Trenton Mack Blair

October 15, 1979 - June 15, 2024

Trenton Mack Blair bound into his adoring mother’s arms on October 15, 1979, promptly at 12:20 PM, ready for lunch and hungry for life. He lived each day with that same hunger. Trent was the best “Bud” to his younger sister, the cutest and funnest of children/nephews/cousins, a fiercely protective and proud father, and the truest of friends.

Aware, creative, inquisitive, and determined from a young age, he learned to master the violin through Suzuki Method, he designed and built the most incredible architectural Lego structures, and set his mother’s heart racing as he fearlessly raced down mountainsides on his tiny skis. Trent never failed to surpass any boundary.

Though he was born with a rare eye condition that left him legally blind, he was never disabled. Trent accepted his trials with grace and worked twice as hard to forge his own path. And though Trent was a diligent and tireless laborer, he never boasted of his efforts.

Trent found a passion for track and field and set several long-standing records in high school, traveled the world to compete in college, and ultimately competed in the 2000 Sydney Australia Paralympics.

Though Trent was trepidatious about becoming a father, he stepped up to the plate as honorary father of Alexxis, and he was absolutely overjoyed when his daughter, Arikka, was born. He took great pride in and care of his most masterful creation. Trent and Arikka were so similar and understood each other on a deep level. Arikka truly was the center of Trent’s world.

Trent had a passion for learning and attained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Utah State University. He worked for 15 years at the Utah Transit Authority, in various positions, including Scheduling and Procurement. He also worked for several years at the University of Utah as Senior Buyer. He excelled in his professional life and was known for never backing down from an assignment.

Because of his generosity, humility, whit, charm, infectious and raucous laugh, and his authentic and loyal personality, he was always surrounded by friends and admirers. And the picture of would not be complete without mentioning his sweet companionship with dog, Dexter. Trent truly had the biggest heart. Trent loved cooking/grilling for family and friends and he was an avid sports fan and University of Utah fanatic.

On June 15, 2024, this world lost an incredible force of life and we will never be the same. Trent leaves behind a legacy of courage, generosity, and love for all those around him, namely: Daughter, Arikka Blair; loyal four-legged companion, Dexter “do” Blair; Mother, Jayce/Joyce Wall; Sister, Jaime Soakai (Sai Soakai); Nieces/Nephew, Loline, Tia, Junie “Trenton”, and Brooklynn Soakai; Honorary Daughter Alexxis Anderson; Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Friends and Coworkers.

His loving family invites all supporters to a casual celebration of life reception, in Trent’s honor, on June 25, 6-8 PM, at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guess are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building. Please bring Trent stories to share. And, in the spirit of Trent’s love for sports, please wear your favorite team jersey (Ute apparel encouraged). Go Utes!

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

In Loving Memory

I'm a former coworker from the University of Utah.  I will truly miss Trent and I'm sad to hear of his passing.  He contributed so much to our team.  When I heard the news I thought of Alexxis and Dexter.  He was a proud father of both.  My thoughts are with you all.

I got to know Trent through a singles group. We casually dated for a bit. Even though it didn't work out we stayed friends.  He was kind, caring, and smart. He will be greatly missed.

I'm so sorry to hear about Trent. We were on the same Track and Field team together at UVSC and remained friends ever since. We had many fun and happy times together. He has always been like a brother to me. He has a heart of gold and is one of the most kind and gentle souls one could ever meet. His life was hard at times, but you would never know it. He always kept a happy, genuine, positive attitude that was inspiring and infectious to be around. You are greatly missed my dear friend. I am so grateful to know that we will see you again and get to hang out again in the eternities ahead. Congratulations on graduating and finishing the race of life with such a pure heart. You lived a very good life and I am sure you are already at work continuing to spread the same love, mercy, kindness, happiness and joy with everyone in heaven the same as you did here. I love you and miss you greatly brother. I will always be proud of you and feel very lucky to have been able to know you so well. I look foward to a happy reunion when we will all get to see you again. ❤️
