It is with aching in our hearts that we announce the passing of our son and brother, Trevor Wayne Empey. Trevor was born on August 8, 1991 in Boise, Idaho and was found having left this life, Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 at his home in Tremonton, Utah.
Trevor graduated from Bonneville High School, May 2010. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints beginning September 2010 in Tijuana, Mexico. He graduated from BYUI with a degree in International Studies December 2016. He was very involved in the ROTC and Army National Guard while there and was commissioned as an officer into the Army upon graduation. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska as a First Lieutenant and was part of Signal Corps and Army Airborne.
Trevor knew how to fill a room with laughter and hilarity. You never knew what he was going to get up to. He loved nature and could most often be found fishing, exploring , and sometimes dangerously slapping a moose’s behind. He chased bears, walked on frozen (and not so frozen) rivers, jumped out of airplanes and generally caused us all to hold our breath and shake our heads at his antics.
People were drawn to Trevor because of his positive attitude, complete acceptance of others and his ability to talk to anyone and make them feel like a friend. All of this being done while he was sometimes feeling lost, alone, and discouraged. Trevor fought a long battle with depression and alcohol. He was full of life and full of sorrow at the same time. We love him deeply and miss him dearly.
Trevor is survived by his parents Craig and Sherri Empey of Idaho Falls and Karrie Bassett of Blackfoot, Idaho. He also leaves behind his siblings, Lance (Jennifer) Empey of Centerville, Utah, Mitchell (Alyson) Empey of Idaho Falls, Travis and Zachariah Empey of Woods Cross, Utah, Erin (Tyler) Wheeler of Winston-Salem, NC, and Angel (Taran) Hoskin of St. Anthony, Idaho. Also his nephews, Braxton, Aiden, Owen, Ax, Waylon, and Callum and his niece, Summer. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who love him dearly.
Please join us for a celebration of his life on Saturday, April 19th at 10:00 am at the Cloverdale Chapel, 915 Crimson Dr, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Family will visit with friends from 9-10:00 am before the service and all are invited to attend a luncheon immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Snake River Animal Shelter for the cats. He loved his feline friends, Mocha and Mary.
Toodle-oo, our boy, we miss you.
