Troy Rohovit
November 3, 1963 - May 5, 2025

Troy Rohovit (Antony Troy Rohovit) was born on November 3, 1963 to Marah and David Rohovit in Kansas City, MO. He had a twin who Troy will be happy to tell you that HE was the older brother (by 6 minutes). He went to his forever home on May 5, 2025 after a valiant fight with ALS.
Troy spent the first 8 years of his life in Kansas City, MO before moving to Salt Lake City. He attended East High school where he was a member of the track team, drama club, war gamers of East, and school choir. He then attended the University of Utah and studied film where he
was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Troy knew since the fourth grade that he wanted to become a filmmaker. And, he was lucky to have been able to live his dream for his entire career. He got his first break while still in college and worked on a movie of the week called “Hobo’s Christmas”. After that show, he was hooked and worked for several years and became a member of the Directors Guild. He spent most of his career as a first assistant director and worked on movies and tv shows. Some include “Halloween, 4, 5, 6”, “Touched by an Angel”, “American Ride”, “Andi Mack”, “High School Musical, the Musical, the Series”, to name just a few. Being on set was his passion and he loved his work and his crew deeply.
He was a member of the International Order of DeMolay where he served as Master Counselor and received a Chevalier award among others. He was also a member of the International order of Priory where he served as Illustrious Knight Commander. In addition he was a member of Kaibab Masonic lodge. It was through these Masonic organizations that he met his wife, Debbie.
Troy loved to travel and was able to travel all around the world with his wife and children. He was an avid Red Sox fan and was able to attend several of their games, one of them being a world series game in 2013. He loved to cook and use every bowl in the house for his “inventions” of sauces and spice rubs. He loved to garden and enjoyed watching things grow. And, he loved watching hummingbirds come to his house every year. He loved “ska” music and enjoyed listening to bands such as “Madness” and loved to dance in the kitchen. He also was a big fan of “Ted Lasso” and watched the program over and over. He was a devoted husband to his wife Debbie and incredible father to his children Taren and Cailey. He joined First Baptist church in 2023, shortly after his diagnosis of ALS. The First Baptist community was incredibly supportive of the family during this time and he felt like this was the place his family could find support and a community after his passing. He made many friends here quickly and called some of them his “adopted moms”.
He is survived by his wife Debbie, his children Taren and Cailey. Brother Trell and father David along with sister-in-laws Diana and Jenny, nephews Ryan, Zach and Max and father-in-law Jack.
Because of his experience in a tragic car accident in his early 20’s, he would tell anyone whoasked, that he knew there was “something more” after this life. There was no doubt in his mind about it. It wasn’t just faith, he KNEW. Earth is not the end. He has said many times to his friends and crew “just love each other”. Troy lived a great story. “That’s a wrap.”
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 18 at 1:00 at the First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City (777 South 1300 East).Special thanks to Cassie Kuhn from the U of U Clinical Neurosciences Center and Jared Nelson from the ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter. Their compassionate care throughout Troy’s ALS journey was above and beyond anything we expected. We are eternally grateful.
