Valerie T. Tezak
August 22, 1950 – August 15, 2015
Val Tezak, our dear sister, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend returned to our Lord on August 15, 2015. If you knew her, even briefly, she touched your life.
Born to Emma and Lewis V. Tezak on August 22, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She attended St. Mary's of the Wasatch where she graduated in 1968. Val attended Utah Technical College in 1969 and the Post Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy where she received her Peace Officer certification in 1984. She served for 37 years in a variety of capacities within the Utah Department of Public Safety and the Department of Corrections, retiring in 2006. Val will be remembered as a problem solver, self-motivated, reliable and dependable. Many of her closest friends are those she met, befriended and worked with during her career. She cherished all of you.
Since retiring in 2006 Val was a devoted volunteer gladly spending many hours tutoring students at St. Vincent De Paul School, assisting the students, faculty and administration in the school library. For five years she offered comfort and sustenance to those in pain from the loss of loved ones as a volunteer for St. Vincent's funeral lunches.
Most recently Val gave herself to service with the Ladies of St. Jude's Maronite Catholic Church, and as a part time secretary in the St. Jude's church office with Father Joubran and Pam. Val treasured every moment of service with you and your parishioners.
Val has been actively involved locally in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
Val is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Emma and Lewis. Also preceding Val in death are her dearest friends Kathy and Cheryl. Val is survived by her sister Barbara M. Herndon (John); and Matthew her nephew. Special appreciation to Shane and Landry Miller and to many cousins and friends.
Friends and family may remember Val's spirit and goodness at a wake on Thursday, August 20th, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 21st, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude's Maronite Catholic Church, 4900 S. Wasatch Street, Murray. Interment will take place after the funeral mass at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. 4th Ave "T" Street, Salt Lake City.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude's Maronite Catholic Church in Valerie Tezak's name, attention Pam Watkins.

Aunt Val- You were taken far too young, I miss you so much! The ice cream you gave me as a young kid when I would come over every day will be missed. The lord has plans for your great soul and I know you're in a better place. We miss you so much and can't express the love you have shown the people around you. Love you Val!
