Velva S. Rosvall
January 14, 1918 - December 31, 2013
Velva Marene Stevenson Rosvall, the beautiful heart of our family died December 31st, 2013, two weeks before her 96th birthday.
She was born January 14th, 1918 in San Diego, California to Blanche Price and James George Stevenson.
She was raised by her beloved grandmother, Emma Price, in Salt Lake City. She lived on the 1200 Block of 1300 South, in three different homes, for over 90 years. She was a member of the LDS Church.
Velva married Lawrence F. Rosvall on October 24th, 1935. Together they shared over 61 years as soul mates before his death in 1997 and has missed him dearly ever since and looked forward to the day their spirits would be reunited in Heaven.
After her children were grown, she enjoyed working alongside her husband at their business, Industrial Sewing Machine Co., which they started in 1963.
The legacy she leaves to her family are the cherished memories of her quiet strength, compassion, sense of humor, unconditional love and devotion. She was often described as an angel on earth because of the infinite kindness she extended to everyone she met. And of course, her sweet voice singing a rousing rendition of “off we go into the wild blue yonder” will remain in our hearts forever.
She leaves behind five daughters and two sons-in-law; Sandra Bonner, Lauri Rosvall, Cheryl Rosvall, Robyn and Dave Horne, Merilee and Kenneth Kohler; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; sister Joyce Orton; and son-in-law Don Bonner.
A special thank you to the staff of Emeritus for the tender and compassionate care they gave our mom.
A celebration of her beautiful life will be held on Wednesday, January 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, where complimentary valet parking will be provided on the north side of the building. Interment will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 11:00 AM at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave and “N” Street, Salt Lake City.
Because of mom’s deep love of children, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation, 771 E. Winchester, Murray, UT 84107 would be appreciated; or simply extend an act of kindness to someone in her memory.
