Vern Craig Parry

May 21, 1943 - August 10, 2017

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Vern Craig Parry. Craig was born in Salt Lake City on May 21, 1943 to Vern Albert Parry and Marjorie Pickett Parry and passed away on August 10, 2017 surrounded by his family.

He was the oldest of four brothers. He served a full-time mission for the LDS Church in the California North Mission. He met the love of his life, Sheila Lewis Yeomans, on a blind date on Sheila's birthday May 14, 1966. They were married seven months later, on December 16th, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their sealing was performed by a young apostle named Thomas S. Monson. They went on to have five spectacular, amazing, and beautiful children and were married for over 50 years.

Craig loved hiking and all of the outdoors. He enjoyed swimming and after retiring from Associated food stores, he became a lifeguard. That was something that he had always wanted to do and he finally had time to do it. He liked floral shirts, Utah's red rocks, SCUBA diving, Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, Clive Cussler, Ernest Hemingway, and Edward Abbey. He was a funny, intelligent, and thoughtful man and was always ready to share a good story.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Brian. He is survived by his wife, Sheila; his five children Troy (Christine) Parry, Kevin (Rachelle) Parry, Chad Parry, Brett Parry, and Chrissy (Dennis) Eagan; and seven grandchildren, Dawson, Kennedy, Coleman, Sydney, Mia, Charlie, and Porter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the LDS Church, 1250 East 4800 South, Murray. Prior to the service, a family prayer will be offered at 10:30 AM at the Church.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Thomas Barman and the staff of Summit Hospice, who cared for Craig with great love and compassion.

In Loving Memory

Cousins, I am so sorry. I know he is in a better place and free from the pain, but it's still not easy. My heart goes out to all of you. I'm so sorry I cannot make it to the funeral. I will be thinking about you guys that day. My thoughts are with you all.

Craig was always my closest cousin-both in age and personality. I enjoyed my last visit with him a couple months ago as we reminisced about our family. He seemed at peace with his diagnosis. Sincerest condolences to you children and grandchildren. George
