Vernell Lee Jenkins
November 9, 1954 - August 8, 2021
Vernell was born in Chicago, ILL to Eddie Mae Sloan and Julius. He was the first born son. He attended Marley High School, graduating then following his dream of undrewater diving. He was fascinated with Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Jacque Costeau, and other diving adventure. After he met his wife, Nora, he attended DuPage College and continue his education at Diver’s Institute of Technology in Seattle, WA. Finally achieving his dream this was his most exciting career ever. Verne lived an awesome life. A pilebuck for Wasatch Construction along with his wife, Nora, who was a heavy equipment operator. His life, never a dull moment, always exciting, fulfilling and rewarding in many ways. A husband, a father, a grandfather, a friend, a hard-worker to the end.
Remarkable. That’s what he was.

My heart is broken! I just heard today my friend passed away! I work at Huntsmen and I use to wait on Bern every morning. He came in every day with a huge smile and a contagious laugh that made everyone smile and he bought us so much joy and happiness each day. He talked about the love of his family and grandkids that meant the world to him. I haven't seen him in months and knew he was sick but didn't know why ? How? When? . I will miss this very kind caring man. May god hold your family in his arms to comfort you . With prayers for you all. may god bring him a new life to watch over you as a guardian angel to you all... soooo sad - he will be missed!!!

Condolences to the family of Vernell (Vern) Jenkins. Although we only knew each other for a short period of time (Chicago, early70's), he was a good guy and sounds like he left behind a reach family and friends legacy. Be comforted and God Bless.
