Vicky Lynn Romanowski

Vicky Romanowski, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, at the age of 71.

Born on September 2, 1953, in Monticello, Utah, Vicky was the youngest of six children born to George Leonard Slavin (1906-1972) and Inez Opal Slavin (1912-2004). In 1972, Vicky married Leonard Firkins, and together they had three children: Christina, Leonard Jr., and Eric. After their separation in 1980, Vicky took charge of her world by pursuing a career in the printing industry and earning an associate's degree in marketing. In 1988, she became the shop manager for a printing company, where she met Benard Romanowski, the love of her life. They were happily married for 37 years and welcomed a son, Anton, into the world. In the following years they expanded their family by welcoming Austin and Holly into their fold. 

In December 2019, Vicky was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She faced her illness with incredible courage and unwavering faith. Her deep trust in the Lord guided her through every appointment and treatment, always with the belief that God was in control and that He would bring her home in His time.

Vicky was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love and prayers for her family were evident every day. She used her battle with cancer to draw her family closer, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and a reminder to live each day to the fullest.
She is survived by her husband Benard and her children Christina (John), Leonard, Eric, Anton, Austin and Holly. She leaves behind her grandchildren Taylor (Tschaun), Erycka (Troy), Tara, Dallin, Maya, and Cassidy, as well as great-grandchildren Grace, Tyler, Elaina, and Zenith, and her sisters Jan Gillit and Malva Jones, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss her every day. Vicky opened her home and heart to anyone that came through her door. No one left without knowing that they were loved and welcome at any time. 

She is now reunited with her beloved Mama, Daddy, siblings, and other cherished loved ones who have passed before her. Her faith in the Lord and the love for her family were the cornerstones of her life, and she will be remembered for her strong spirit and devotion.

A memorial service to honor Vicky’s life and faith will be held at the Monticello Cemetery on September 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating her remarkable life and enduring legacy. A luncheon will follow at the San Juan Community Church. In celebration of Vicky’s life, we ask that you wear her favorite color purple.
