Victor Harold Forsman
January 26, 1960 - August 30, 2021
Victor Harold Forsman “Vic” our best friend, our brother, our uncle, our neighbor, our handyman, and probably the best guy ever, passed away suddenly at home of natural causes on August 30, 2021, at the young age of 61. Vic was born on January 26, 1960, to Harold Forsman and Mary Glezos. He was raised in South Salt Lake where he
attended Kearns Saint Ann Grade School. Vic lost his father at a young age. His mother raised three boys as a single mother working in various jobs including at the family bar and then later at the post office. Vic played football at Judge Memorial Catholic High School, where he graduated in 1978. He graduated from Westminster College in 1982 with a BS in Business. He worked in various advertising/public relations, sales, and publishing jobs, and went on to own Dumac Publishing, where he retired in 2013.
Vic was the consummate homeowner, pet parent, the ultimate Jazz fan, and above all else, loyal friend. He was well known on Hugo Avenue (Holladay, Utah) as the person who could be counted on to watch your house, your dogs, and fix just about anything. If you asked to borrow one of the tools from his extensive collection, he would more than likely just finish the job on his own. There are countless decks, fences, and patios in the Salt Lake Valley that Vic has had a hand in building. He loved helping out friends and family, Jazz games, sports, golfing with friends, and doing anything outdoors. He was an incredible uncle and took great joy in hanging out with nephews and nieces, and most recently his great nephew and niece who he had a very special bond with. His great nephew called Uncle Vic, “his best friend.” He didn’t have kids of his own, but was a constant presence in the lives of his friends’ kids, attending family parties, sporting events, and camping trips. He was a staple on the volunteer force of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Salt Lake City, working the annual Greek Festival for decades.
Vic is survived by his brother Ted, stepbrother Rory Barnes (Cori), stepsister Robyn Powers, nephews Jake Barnes (Devon), James Powers, and Jack Forsman, nieces Merceydes Morassi, Baylee Drage (Nick), Sofi Forsman, and Kathryn Forsman, great nephew Gabriel Barnes, great niece Brie Barnes, cousins godmother Christine Whipple, Mike (Bo) Glezos, Ernie (Pudge) Glezos, Steve Glezos, Terry Anderson, Emily Charles, Tony Glezos and Caroline Buckwell, and his dog Ellie May, a beautiful Belgian Malinois. Vic had just completed his duties as Best Man to his lifelong friends Tom and Sara Eckroth.
Vic is preceded in death by father Harold, mother Mary, stepfather Don Barnes, brother Ernie (Tasso), uncle Ted Glezos, aunt Ann Glezos, and nephew Braydon Barnes. Vic will be dearly missed by his family and many lifelong friends and neighbors. He was so incredibly caring and will never be forgotten. Lyrics from a song that he loved, ‘You’ve Got a Friend’ by James Taylor, are what Vic was all about – “Winter, spring, summer or fall, all you have to do is call, and I’ll be there. You’ve got a friend.”
A Celebration of Life will be Monday, September 6, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor located at 3651 South 900 East Salt Lake City, Utah 84106. A prayer service will be on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 11:00 am at Starks Funeral Parlor followed by a burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery located at 1342 E 500 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84102.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Humane Society of Utah, ASPCA, or charity of your choice in Vic’s name.
“I’ll be right over.”
