Victoria M. Mori
January 4, 1952 - July 18, 2023
Victoria M. Mori passed away July 18, 2023 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. Vicki came into this world on January 4, 1952. Her two sisters were very disappointed and complained to parents Bill and Ann Long, they wanted a brother! After a few years the family moved from her birth city of Great Falls, Montana to Salt Lake City. There, she attended J. E. Cosgriff grade school and St. Mary’s of the Wasatch High School. She graduated from the University of Utah with Honors in Leisure Studies.
Her career in the nonprofit domain began at Neighborhood House. She loved children and seniors and Neighborhood House served both. Vicki had a sense of purpose and the drive to make this a better world, creating opportunities for underprivileged children and enrichening the lives of seniors citizens. Her next endeavor was Guadalupe School. There, she and her talented staff administered programs to enhance the lives of parents with infants, grade school children, and non-English speaking adults. She was instrumental in the building of a new school, which was her greatest achievement. Throughout her career she received numerous awards. With her energy, enthusiasm, and leadership she was a profound influence in education and nonprofit community.
She was a wonderful wife and great mother. Among her many talents, she was an avid skier, a magnificent gardener, and skilled fly fisherman. She also enjoyed hiking, photography and biking.
She is survived by her husband Michael of 47 years, son Jeffery, and sisters Kathie Williams and Sally Nicholson and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor on July 27, at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass is conducted at St. Vincent Catholic Church on July 28, at 11:00 am.

Dear Mike, Jeffery, Kathy, Sally, and Family & Friends, My thoughts and prayers are with you, as we mourn the physical loss of our dear Vickie, and celebrate the completion of her amazing circle of life. Vickie was one in a million; her dedication to others made such a difference in our world. I've known Vickie since we were classmates together at J E. Cosgriff Memorial from fifth grade on and then off to St Mary Of The Wasatch where she became student body vice president with the campaign slogan "That Girl". Our friendship endured throughout our 71+ years as we celebrated life's milestones marking class reunions, attending nonprofit meetings with Neighborhood House @ Salt Lake Shelter & Resource Center, her fund raising and completion of Guadalupe School, as well as many dinners in SLC with classmates of Mike & Vickie. May Vickie rest in Peace & Love

Mike and family: Was very saddened to read of Vicki's passing. I was a nonprofit colleague of hers for many years and always admired her dedication to her causes. May she Rest In Peace.

I first met Vicki when she was Executive Director of Neighborhood House. As a loaned Executive to United Way in about 1990, I witnessed Vicki helping make the live’s of others better. Although she was small in stature, her impact on our community was great. Her larger than life dedication to helping others was always done with endless energy. Fast forward to around 2010, Vicki asked me to help fund-raise for a desperately needed new building for Guadalupe School. Everyone knew when Vicki asked for your help, saying “No” was not an option. Vicki assembled the “A Team”, the who’s who of Salt Lake, and in 2014, our new school was opened for business. Following the opening of the school, Vicki asked me to serve on the board and the following year, she asked me to serve as President of the Board. For the next five years, I was honored to stay involved with Guadalupe School, to work with the dedicated teachers, staff, administrators, and Vicki. Along with the committed board of directors, we were all devoted to ending the cycle of poverty through education. If I were to define Vicki Mori, I'd say she was a leader, an angel, a defender. If the bus was broke down, Vicki would use her personal vehicle to pick up our students. Vicki followed in the footsteps of Father Jerald Merrill (founder of Guadalupe school in 1966), Suzanne Weiss and others who worked for decades to educate children and adults on the west side. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with Mike, Jeff and her family. Jack and Melanie Elizondo
