Violet Clyde Allison Gottfredson

August 31, 1940 - August 11, 2025

Violet Clyde Allison was born in Derry Northern Ireland on the 31st of August 1940, passed away as her heart had had enough.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold Mayo. Beloved & adored mother to Gina and caregiver, loving mother of Allison, Troy, Vanessa, sons-in-law MacArthur Davis & Albert Wilking, grandchildren Eden, Fletcher & Ashlynne.

Violet Clyde had a remarkable life from her time in the homeland to her time in Birmingham England and her time in Utah, her second home.

The Duchess, as she was known by many, was a stately lady, not to mention a fighter through & through with her health.
Violet Clyde shared a one of a kind bond with her beloved daughter & caregiver, Gina. A rare and beautiful bond rooted in love, laughter & a little mischief. Gina’s care & playful spirit kept the Duchess young at heart until the very end.

A wake is to begin Friday, August 15th at 6pm at the late residence of Clyde at 974 South 1300 East in Salt Lake City until Sunday, 8/17 at 6pm where a vigil service will be held with the wake to continue after. Her remains will be leaving her late home Monday at 10:30am for a Requiem Mass to be celebrated at 11am at the Cathedral of the Madeleine at 331 East South Temple. Committal will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 4th Avenue & T Street in Salt Lake City.

In lieu of flowers, venmo donations would be greatly appreciated for the funeral expenses @Gina-GMonkey.

Growing up next door to Clyde and Harold was a cultural, neighborly, and sometimes unusual experience. Clyde was always exceptionally dressed even with her garden gloves and clippers tending her plants that we totally enjoyed next to our driveway. I have many fond memories of Symphony Guild teas, hanging crystals in the new hall, and listening and learning about beautiful music and her other home. What a joy she was and her whole family.

Dear Gina, I send my deepest heartfelt sympathies and love to you and your family. I will always remember Clyde, as she has known me since I was a wee child. She always said my name so lovingly, with enthusiasm and care. I remember going to the Manor after school before Irish dance, and she would feed me biscuits while she had a cup of tea. Clyde is such a beautiful woman, with a great sense of humor and I remember her being strong and working in the garden. Much love to you.

Dear Gina, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother, Clyde. I knew your mother when she was dating Harold and I was dating Pete, Harold’s friend. She married Harold and I married someone else and we lost track of each other for a while to be again reunited when Harold had Alzheimer’s disease. Since I had an Alzheimer’s support group that she joined we again caught up on each other’s life. She was a sweet friend, caring wife and a great lady. I’ve seen you both on Facebook and it looks like she had a marvelous life. Rest in peace Clyde, until we meet again. Dini

So sorry for your loss. What more can we say than what has already been said? Clyde was kind, loving and caring. Clyde cared for Ruth when she was declining. She loved her homeland and serving at the cathedral. We thought one day we'd travel to Ireland with Clyde to see where she grew up. Sad that never happened. Clyde will be missed. How wonderful that she can be reunited with Harold. She's in Father's hands now and he will take good care of her. We loved Clyde!
