Virginia Gertino Langford
“Ginny, Gigi”

April 12, 1932 - March 25, 2025

The world is a quieter place now that our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Virginia “Ginny” Gertino Langford, passed away on March 25, 2025.

Ginny was born on April 12, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to immigrant parents, Angelo Gertino and Eva Martellaro Gertino. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from West High School and Stevens-Henager College. She worked in her family’s restaurant, Kelly’s Lunch, where she learned to love the fast pace and friendly atmosphere of the food industry. She later worked for Western Foods, where she served beer at the Jazz games at the Delta Center. But for her, it was never just about the job, it was about the people, the energy, and the thrill of being right in the action!

Ginny met the love of her life, Bob Langford, at Jordan Junior High School. They married on June 1, 1952. A devout Catholic, Ginny married Bob in St. Patrick Church. They built a life full of love, laughter, and shared adventures. Together they opened Bob and Ginny’s V Club in South Salt Lake City. Ginny spent retirement in Yuma, Arizona, Mesquite, Nevada, and, summers in Manilla, Utah.

Ginny was a fast talker with a quick wit, never at a loss for words; she could carry on a conversation with anyone, making every interaction lively and engaging. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel like a lifelong friend. She cherished her time with the Red Hat Ladies of Mesquite, where she formed some of her closest friendships.
Ginny leaves behind two sons, Bob (Jan) and Michael “Rodney” (Cindy), her daughter-in-law Jodi Langford, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She’s reunited with her husband, Bob, her son Steven, and five siblings who passed before her.

A vigil service will be held Thursday, April 10 at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S 900 E, Salt Lake City.
Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 11 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 276 E 1700 S in Bountiful at 11:00 AM. Ginny will be laid to rest next her husband, Bob, on Saturday, April 12 in Manilla, Utah.

In Loving Memory

I’m so sorry and saddened by the loss of your sweet mother, grandmother, and friend. Virginia was a unique gem so we were all so lucky to have been blessed by her presence. She made me feel special all the times spent together just by her cute smile and sense of humor. I pray that you all may find comfort and peace during this difficult time and always. May she rest in peace. I love you Virginia!

Dear Friend and Neighbor. We’re going to miss you and offer your family our sympathies and compassion. You were truly a “character” with a fun, truthful, appetite for life , and wearing your colorful hat which brought you into a circle of more friends in life. You always loved talking and stimulating any conservation. We enjoyed being your neighbor and always chuckled when you came out of the house and yelled for Bob several times. He was usually sitting on the lawnmower to the west side of your house and pretended he couldn’t hear you! It was so funny. Bob and you made the most of your lives and now you’ll be together again with Steve. May God bless you for being such a special person❤️

To Ginny's family, especially Rose, and Kathleen along with her two wonderful girls. I met all of you in Mesquite, Nevada including Ginny. I enjoyed her friendship, her upbeat personality along with her caring of others and her great sense of humor. We had many good times enjoying the activities in Mesquite. We remained friends after we all moved to different states and enjoyed the many phone calls we had. She will be missed by all, including the ladies in Mesquite.
