Voncille Jones Sale
In loving memory
Voncille Jones Sale passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 17th, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 20th, 1924 in Haynesville, Louisiana to E.W. and Nora Lee Jones. She married Leonard C. Sale in 1944 and welcomed four children into the world. Voncille worked as a supervisor for Bell Telephone Company during WWII while awaiting Leonard’s return from a seven-year tour of duty in Europe. The family later settled in Brigham City, Utah. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Pioneer Nursing Home for thirty years. Voncille was also extremely active as a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church. She was an important member of the Presbyterian Woman’s Circle, providing a much-needed soup kitchen for the needy, annual rummage sale and other charitable gifts for the community.
After passing of her husband, Voncille later relocated to Salt Lake City where she resided with her daughter Sharon for seven years.
Voncille is survived by her children Janette (Frank) Cobb, Sharon S. Fukuda, John W. (Lisa) Sale, Nancy S. Gautney; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and her dog Abby.
Voncille was a fierce and loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. But above all she was a gracious and genteel steel magnolia.
A special thank you to the caring and compassionate team at First Choice Home Health and Hospice. A private family service will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Brigham City.

I had only been married 2 years when my husband and I relocated from North Carolina to Utah, where he had gone to college. I was in culture shock... but I got a job at Pioneer Memorial and was immediately taken under the wings of Voncille and Alice Burt Johnson. For almost 2 more years, they were my "rocks." I have never forgotten your mother. May she rest in peace. ---kay
