Forever Sweethearts
11-19-1926 – 11-19-2009
W. Dale Kohler passed away on his 83rd birthday, November 19, 2009. He was born in Wellsville, Utah on November 19, 1926 to Walter and Jane Cooper Kohler. He lived in Providence, Utah.
At age 18, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He completed his training in San Diego, California. This was during the latter part of World War II. He served some of his time aboard the U.S.S. Hornet, a large aircraft carrier.
He married his High School sweetheart, LaPreal Batt, in the Logan LDS Temple on February 9, 1945. They were blessed and grateful to be together for 64 years.
He was active in church and served in many callings. He was General Secretary of the Aaronic Priesthood while living in Salt Lake City. In Smithfield, he was also ward finance clerk, in the Elder’s Quorum Presidency, a Sunday School teacher and a home teacher.
He enjoyed reading, visiting and being with his family and building scale model cars and motorcycles. He was the most thoughtful, giving, kind, loving and helpful person you ever wanted to know.
He is survived by his loving wife; his four lovely daughers, Patricia (Kent) Griffin, Andrea (Lynn) Larsen, Sandra (Bob) Albrecht and Cynthia (Ed) Jewell; sister Elaine (Ralph) Johnson; eleven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren (with a 16th on the way).
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Glen Kohler and Glen’s wife Beryl.
Private family services will be held with interment at Elysian Burial Gardens.
