Wanda Mazur
January 20, 1939 - December 10, 2017
Wanda Platacz was born on January 20, 1939 in Lithuania, now Poland, to Adam and Anna Platacz. She had four brothers and one sister, who all loved her very much. Wanda Platacz was married to Henryk Mazur on December 23, 1965, forming the Mazur Family. Wanda stayed faithful with Henryk her entire life, having two children and four grandchildren. Wanda's children are Gregory, whom she is joining in the afterlife, and Maria. The grandchildren from Greg are Adam, Mia, and Anna. Maria's addition to the Mazur family is Angel Mazur.
Wanda will be remembered by all as an extremely loving and caring person, and the worlds most amazing cook. Wanda was an amazing women that was born into a world erupting into WWII. She survived the brutal occupation by Stallen's Russia to whom she lost a brother to. She played a part in freeing Poland by supporting her coal mining husband. The strike Henryk was involved in, which was supported by Wanda as well, threw the Russian boot off of the Polish people. For their part, Wanda's family was welcomed to America with open arms. Once in America, Wanda stayed active in the Polish Community. Wanda was always such a giving person. She threw the doors open to the newly arrived. Wanda's generosity gave a stable fresh start to innumerable immigrant families.
We did not just lose a kind woman; we lost a bit of history, a hero to many families, and a piller of the Polish community. With the lost of Wanda, the world is a lesser place, and many lives are saddened. We can only take saullence in the fact she joined her son in a better place now.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2315 East Redondo, Salt Lake City, where friends may call upon the family one hour prior.
