Wayne Arthur Cederholm Sr.

September 11, 1928 - September 14, 2015

Wayne Arthur Cederholm, Sr., husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on September 14, 2015 comforted by his family.

Wayne was born September 11, 1928 in SLC to Arthur and Hazel Dibble Cederholm. He graduated from South High School and later joined the Air National Guard and was employed by ZCMI. On January 17, 1950 he married LaRae Nicolo and together raised their two children, Shauna and Wayne, teaching them the importance of strong family traditions and values. Although not Italian, it was Wayne who learned how to make the family spaghetti sauce for the family's Sunday dinner tradition.

After being widowed in 2000, Wayne met and later married Mary Kanderis Spencer on January 15, 2006. Dad often said how lucky he was to have Mary to share his later years with and how much she did for him.
Wayne was a salesman by day and a constant tinkerer by night. He could fix almost anything. This skill led to his inventing a machine that produced surgical facemasks and to working for Alpha Protech, keeping the machines running until he retired at 73.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. In his later years, GOLF became his passion. He shared this passion with his grandchildren and we all looked forward to annual family golf tournament. He made many special friends over 18 holes of golf.

Wayne was known for his sense of humor, bright smile and ready laugh; always having a joke or good pun. He was very proud of being the elder Wayne Arthur Cederholm of three generations. He especially enjoyed his many family trips. On one special trip, he met and had a drink with his life-time hero, Arnold Palmer. Together with his daughter and grandson he visited his favorite city, San Francisco, in May. Sadly, with the passing of his son, a light went out of his life.

Wayne is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Shauna (Doug) Eldredge; daughter-in-law Peeches Cederholm; step-daughter-in-law Stacy Paras; grandchildren Nichole (Donald) Dunn, Trent Adams (VinCi Chan), Tajha (Dave) Ferrara, Wayne III (Katie) Cederholm, Dustin Cederholm (Stephanie Ransdell), Andrea and Matthew Paras; and 7 great-grandchildren. Wayne was also preceded in death by his wife LaRae; sister Barbara Murphy; and step-son Michael Paras.

Please join us as we celebrate his life on Friday, September 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, where complimentary valet parking will be provided on the north side of the building. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 10:00 AM at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave "T" Street, Salt Lake City.
