William Clark Lovell III
October 28, 1976 - November 6, 2013
William Clark Lovell III, 37, resident of Los Angeles, CA, passed from this world on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in The Bahamas. While swimming in the ocean after arriving to port on the cruise ship he was working and playing music on, Will was tragically overcome by the strong surf and undertow.
Born October 28, 1976 in San Mateo, California, Will discovered his love of music at an early age. Growing up in his beloved mountains of Utah, Will continued to pursue his musical talents. It was then that Will found his deep love of jazz music. After studying music at Arizona State University, Will went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Music from the University of Utah.
Throughout his musical career, Will played locally, nationally, and internationally with many talented musicians in a number of bands. Will's love of music permeated his entire life, and he remained committed to practicing, composing, listening, gigging, and living and breathing music every day.
Will brought an incredible level of love and joy to all aspects of his life. A beloved son, brother, friend, cousin, boyfriend, and band mate, Will brightened the day of everyone with his joie de vivre, goofiness, sincere smile, and tenderness. Will brought an unparalleled level of enthusiasm and joy to everything that he did. He especially loved spending time with friends and family, hiking, training in martial arts and working out, going to movies, swimming, bodysurfing, knitting, traveling, and almost all aspects of "nerd culture".
A gathering to honor William will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 3:00PM – 6:00PM at Starks in Salt Lake City, UT, located at 3651 South 900 East.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to the Park City High School Jazz Band through Park City Education Foundation at PO Box 681422 Park City, UT 84068.

We feel shock and disbelief. The death of Bill brings much sadness to our lives. He was a great friend to our son Colins and was a friend and mentor to our daughter Lauren. We remember all the great shows of the jazz band, and the the show that Bill and friends put on at the Homestead. Will miss your smile and your friendship. Randall and Cathryn Godfrey

Dear Family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one and send you my sincere condolences. The passing of a loved one can leave us feeling lost and heartbroken. But I've found very comforting words in God's word, the Bible. At Psalms 55:22, God promises to sustain those who throw their burden upon Him. God will also do away with death all together as brought out at Revelation 21:4. The bible also holds out the hope of a resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in death at Acts 24:15. May Jehovah, the God of all comfort who comforts us in all our trials (2 Corinthians 1:3,4), comfort you in your time of need. Heartfelt prayers are with your family.

It still doesn't seem real. Reading and thinking about Will reminds me of how special a person he was. So admired and loved...really lived life to it's fullest. For that we can all have some sort of peace. The loss is great... Peggy

Dear Kris, Bill and Kelly, It's difficult to find the words to tell you how sad we are at the loss you are enduring at this time. We have so many fond memories of all of us together in Foster City as the children were growing up. Will (Billy) was Jeremy's idol and he was always so kind to the youngest in the group. His smile will never be forgotten. Daniel was able to see him perform in LA just before he went to sea and was following his adventures via FB. We are all stunned and saddened. Our love is with you all and know that your beloved Will is continuing to play his music - if we just listen, we'll hear him. Much love, Helga, Daniel and Jeremy

Dear Family of William Clark Lovell III, Tonight I attended a wonderful concert by local Classical Guitarist Tully Cathey, and I was very moved when he dedicated his encore piece to and the memory of William. It was based and inspired by one of his Jazz tunes, being one of the best pieces of his recital's program. Although I did not know William, through this piece I might have gotten to know an aspect of his. I wanted to share this with you. Please accept my sincere condolences as well. Christian Rapp.

will touched my life countless times in many ways throughout our almost twenty year acquaintance. while he was close with both of my brothers and he and i had a more peripheral relationship, he was always there to help with music, say something hilarious, tell a great story, and on and on. when i moved back to phoenix from new york in 99 to start a band called niner, he kept screaming that he was gonna make a mascot outfit that was a huge number nine. he wanted to be called "nuevito." it was effing hilarious. what a wonderful person. thank you.

To the Lovell Family: My family and I would like to express our deepest sympathy over the loss of Billy. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. When we read Genesis 1:28 and 31, we find that death was not a part of God's original purpose. With this in mind, one thing that comforted me after the loss of my parents is our Creator's plan to restore his original purpose and make it possible for all mankind (including loved ones we have lost in death) to live forever under perfect conditions. (Revelation 21:3-5; John 5:28,29) It is our hope that these words bring you a measure of comfort during this difficult time. Once again, please accept our condolences as you deal with the loss of Billy and contemplate the hope of seeing him again.
