William R. Fogarty
"Bill"

William R. Fogarty, 81, passed away on Sunday, May 27th, 2013. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his neighbors, friends, and family.

Bill was born in Salt Lake City, UT on June 11, 1931, son of William P. Fogarty and Maggie Luella Davis. He graduated West High School and enrolled in the US Navy, where he served proudly during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with injuries sustained while serving.

He married Sandra Jae Martin in 1955 and began his long career as a restaurateur, opening the House of Pizza, Salt Lake's first pizza house. He moved to Edmonds, Washington in 1959 and remained there until 1972, when Sandra died suddenly, prompting him to return to his home in Salt Lake City. After returning to Utah he owned and managed the marina at Joe's Valley Reservoir for two years, with the help of his children. Returning to Salt Lake City he opened Fogarty's Blarney Stone, a small private club pub. Later he became a successful broker and manager for two Park City operations and was able to retire in his mid-fifties. He loved all animals, especially his dogs. He enjoyed fishing for trout at Flaming Gorge and was a serious golfer. Bill lived a good and full life.

He is survived by his three children Kelly Fogarty, Kevin Fogarty, and Kerry (Marissa) Fogarty; his brother Robert (Carol) Fogarty; as well as his 5 grandchildren; and his dog Sahara.

Friends are invited to join the family in remembering Bill on Sunday, June 2nd from 5 to 7 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
