LaVerne Moser

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to LaVerne F. Moser, 91, an affectionate and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. LaVerne passed away on April 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

LaVerne was born on December 3, 1932 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Wilmer and Lovie King. Shortly after she graduated from high school, she married the love of her life, Gene Moser. Gene and LaVerne had an adventurous life together with many defining chapters. The first chapter followed Gene’s rodeo career as a cowboy and rodeo clown. This job proved to be a bit too dangerous when their daughter, Susan, was born. The next chapter was supporting Gene through his career in the insurance industry which brought two more children, Dan and Pam, into the family and many moves across the country.

Moving to Park City, Utah was the last and most defining chapter in LaVerne and Gene’s lives. Life-long friendships were made through the many activities and the community involvement in which they participated. LaVerne developed a love of quilting and was very excited to have one of her quilts win a ribbon at the State Fair. Chasing hot air balloons at predawn followed by a champagne toast became a common activity as Gene’s love of hot air balloons became a way of life. She was a gracious host, always welcoming anyone who happened to cross her path with warmth and kindness. Through Gene’s work and upon his retirement, they enjoyed travelling throughout the country and to many foreign destinations from Hong Kong to Athens, making new friends and memories. Throughout their lives, Gene and LaVerne returned frequently to their beloved New Mexico.

Those who went before her were her parents, Wilmer and Lovie King, her twin brother, Vernon King, and her husband, Gene Moser. She leaves behind her children, Susan Clement (Bill), Dan Moser (Helen) and Pam Strasser (Fred), grandchildren, Shannon Gudowicz, Kyle Strasser, Christina and Katherine Moser, great-grandchildren, Dakota, Grace, Lali and Liam, as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

The family would like to thank Jessica at Utah Home Health and Hospice for her devoted care and love for LaVerne, as well as the staff and her many friends at The Ridge at Cottonwood who brought so much joy to her life as a resident for the last six years.

In honor of LaVerne, a celebration of life will be on Monday, May 13th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East Millcreek, UT. Guests are encouraged to use the parking lot and entrance located on the north side of the building.
