Cynthia Elizabeth Maw

Cynthia Maw was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in both Portland and Detroit. She was a devoted lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Scientist. Cynthia graduated from Michigan State University and did post-graduate work at San Diego State University. She worked as a paralegal in Portland and then joined the family rental car business in Salt Lake City. She was active in the Utah Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and volunteered with the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce, mentoring small business owners. Later in life, Cyn was a much-valued administrator for various small businesses.

Cynthia was a funny woman with a great sense of humor. She loved her friends, her family, her pets, her religion, exploring the world and asking questions (she was nosy). She had a gift for helping in ways most of us can’t. Five senior dogs from SLC Golden Rescue spent the last years of their lives in Cynthia’s loving care. When one of her beloved dogs died, she had the strength and heart to say, “Ok who needs me next?” She had a lot of fun and was fun to be with, whether traveling, hiking, camping, cooking, gardening, watching movies or enjoying game night. Cynthia will be lovingly remembered. She is survived by her two brothers and a plethora (her word) of good friends.
