Jason Lee Anderson
We said our final goodbyes to a great man, father, friend, and husband on January 16, 2024. Jason Lee Anderson died at the age of 51 following an acute illness that despite best efforts could not be contained. Jason took his last breath at the University of Utah Hospital surrounded by his wife, children, and several close family friends. Jason is survived by his best friend and wife Heather Anderson Sojourner, his six children – Haydon Anderson age 33, Alexa Anderson age 28, Rylan Anderson age 27, Olivia Sojourner age 17, Raeya Anderson age 17, Will Sojourner age 14 and his three spoiled dogs – Grayson, Chloe and Banks. Jason was raised in Sandy, UT and attended Jordan High School. Both of Jason’s parents, Robert Gordon Anderson and Sharon RaNae Evans, preceded him in death.
Jason is a master craftsman and has thrived in the world of commercial construction and woodworking. He has helped create drywall masterpieces all over the world and is well known in the construction industry. Jason works at DAW Construction Group and was days away from celebrating his five-year work anniversary as a Project Manager/Estimator. In 2017 he founded his carpentry business, Unique Craftmanship by Jason, and creates wooden masterpieces. He specializes in making tables, cutting boards, lazy susans, coat racks, drink coasters and other unique wooden pieces. He sold his wooden creations at local markets like Park Silly in Park City, UT and Gardener Village in West Jordan, UT.
Other than building and crafting, Jason has many passions. He is a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan- win or lose. He loves wearing crazy socks and has 100+ in his collection. He is a master in the kitchen and on the grill allowing him to proudly feed his family with his newest recipes. He finds peace in the outdoors and loves camping and fishing. He enjoys having a pristine yard with the greenest grass in the neighborhood. And, he is an avid dog lover, donates to the Humane Society yearly and more recently acquired a rescue dog named Banks from Herding Haven which has brought love and joy to the family.
From heavy metal rock music to watching Hercules or the Simpson’s on Disney Plus, Jason is a unique man that is unforgettable. His physical strength was balanced by tenderness and love that only his closest connections knew ran deep within him. But all know, he is a master at spinning quick comebacks and memorable one-line quips. His humor and confidence are magnetic, drawing others to him.
Jason’s life has impacted many and he will be missed. Because the Universe knows all, the week prior to his death ironically Jason and his family discussed death and what a “funeral” for him should look like. Jason was adamant that when he passes he wants laughter and love with lots of good stories. He wants a Celebration of Life that is casual with good music, drinks and food. So, please join Jason’s family for his Celebration of Life on Tues, Jan 30 from 6-8pm so we can say farewell in the style he asked for. In his honor we are asking everyone to wear crazy socks, Dallas Cowboys swag or metal band t-shirts – or just come ready to share stories.
You say “Jesus”. He responds “No, it’s Jason.”
You say “I love you”. He responds “I love you mosterest.”
You are sitting at a green stop light too long. He responds “If it gets any greener you could smoke it.”
We will forever love and miss Jason! Come celebrate his life with us.
A celebration of life will be on Tuesday, January 30th from 6-8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Millcreek. Please do not bring children under the age of 12.
Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building.
