Margaret Leary Brown

April 16, 1927 - May 3, 2018
Margaret Leary Brown

Margaret Leary Brown passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 3, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She was 91 years old.

Margaret was born April 16, 1927 in Butte, Montana to John Leary and Eva Stanton Leary.  She grew up in Centerville, and following graduation from Girl's Central High School, received her Registered Nursing Degree at Carroll College through the Civil Army Nursing Corp.

On June 15, 1948 Margaret married her true love and life-long dance partner, Bartlett R. Brown in Butte.  They made their home and raised their family in Pocatello and Boise, Idaho, eventually settling and retiring in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they enjoyed traveling the country and the world.

Mother was a loving nurturer from childhood and remained the consummate caregiver to her entire family.  Her biggest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her style and sophistication were her trademark.  Others were easily drawn to her and she enjoyed many life-long friendships. What we will remember most is the fun, the laughter and her wicked sense of humor.  Strength of character, straight talking and loyal, she was a mighty force to those of us lucky enough to call her ours.

Margaret is survived by her children Sharon Voegele, Salt Lake City, UT, Karen Wilson (Matt), Sandy, UT, Roby Brown (Terri), Boise, ID; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband Bartlett Brown; daughter Barta Jones; son-in-law James Voegele; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Blanche Leary; sister and brother-in-law Rose and Don Rand; sister and brother-in-law Frances and Bill Stott.

Once asked by her son-in-law Matt if she would change anything in her life, she declared that she always wanted to be a "Peggy".  So farewell Peggy, we will miss you every day.
