Dear John and all the family. Jean and all of you have always had a special place in my heart starting in 1973 when I was first assigned to St. Vincents's parish and taught in the school. You provided a warm welcome anytime I visited in your home or we enjoyed many encounters at various occasions over the years. What a marvelously gifted woman Jean was with a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of fierce dedication to her beloved John and family and church. We are better people and the world a better place because of Jean Indeed Rest in God's loving peace.

Mrs. Henkels is in my thoughts and prayers as well as the whole family. I will always remember the times are families had together and what a wonderful friendship my parents had with Mr.and Mrs. Henkels. You are an inspiration to us all.

My condolences to all the Henkels. When my mother, Helen Egleston, died Mrs. Henkels instructed me to call her "Jean" but to me, having known her for decades, she will always be "Mrs. Henkels." She meant a great deal to my mother who thought of her as one of her dearest friends. I loved not only the time I was lucky enough to spend with Mrs. Henkels but also the recounting of their many conversations. Her obituary aptly notes her joy and enthusiasm -- I would like to add that she was also positive and encouraging and she had the rare gift of making people feel better about themselves. Rest in peace, Mrs. Henkels. You will always have a place in my heart.

Jean was one of the most elegant and gracious woman I have ever met. She was a true Catholic role model as a wife, mother and grandmother. I was blessed to know her. Will miss her at the Catholic Woman’s League luncheon which she faithfully attended each year
