Robert Leslie 'Les' Roach Jr.

September 10, 1921 - November 14, 2018

Les Roach passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 surrounded by his family at the age of 97. Les was born September 10, 1921 in Park City, Utah, the oldest child of Robert Leslie Roach, Sr. and Mary Fisher Lindsay. He attended Park City High School and graduated in the class of 1939.
After graduating from PCHS, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Navy Construction Battalion (SEABEES) in the South Pacific. After his service in WWII he attended trade/technical school in Los Angeles. He returned to Utah and went to work for the Salt Lake Tribune as a linotype operator. He worked as a printer for the Newspaper Corporation for 31 years.
On June 01, 1957 he married Ellen Jane Cullen at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in Park City. They were married 61 years. Les and Jane were blessed with four kids who loved him dearly. And then even better, he got to enjoy and love seven grandchildren.
Les loved fishing, tying flies, fishing, golf, fishing, a little hunting, fishing, making Ukrainian Easter eggs, and fishing – as often as he could get away. He was also a big Utah Utes fan. BIG FAN! He made it down to the Fiesta Bowl and definitely had the best hat!
Les is survived by his wife Jane, his four children Bob (Robin), Tom, Peggy (Bruce) and Suzanne (Richard). And he is the most awesome grandpa to Tyler, Ryan, Lauren, Madeline, Melissa, Benjamin, and Hailey.
A celebration of Les’s life will be Tuesday, November 20th, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guest are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 21st, at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 2100 South 500 East. Interment will follow at the Park City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
