Michael Wayne Martin

Michael Wayne Martin, age 63, passed away on January 13, 2020 doing what he loved - fixing stuff and helping people. His big heart finally got the best of him.

Born November 30, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, the middle son to Ken and Connie Martin.  He worked as a tradesmen where he learned his ability to do all and fix all. His hard work resulted in a management position at a local trucking company.  He was transferred to Salt Lake City where he married his soul mate, Leslie.  

They settled down in Midvale, Utah where he was able to enjoy his passions in the outdoors: fishing, skiing, and camping.  

Mike loved spending time with family.  He began volunteering in the lunchroom at Dylan and Maya’s school where he was embraced by the love of the Skaggs Catholic Center community.  Mike enjoyed life and the people around him. His loving and personable nature blessed many friends throughout life with humor, smiles, laughter, and generosity. 

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Leslie, his son, Chris (Tiffani) Martin, his daughters, Crystal (Shareef) Aleem and Amanda (Doug) Ellis, seven grandchildren, his brother, Ken (Cindy) Martin, and many nephews and nieces. And his dog family, Marty, Lucky, Neo, and Samson.  He was preceded in death by his brother Joe Martin, and parents Ken and Connie Martin.

A celebration of life will be held for Mike, on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 9757 South 1700 East, in Sandy, Utah.  A memorial service will be at 6 PM followed by a funeral mass at 7 PM for those interested.
